The Giants are striking out at the fourth highest rate in baseball to start the season, sitting at 27% for the year.
Miller isn't regarded as an elite strikeout pitcher but he can get us at least the five strikeouts needed today simply by pitching deeper into the game which is something he does do often.
I'm bullish on Miller this season and if he does start showing more of an ability to rack up the strikeouts this season then this number is going to be way too low given his overall talent.
Jacob deGrom PrizePicks MLB Pick: More Than 16.5 Outs
In his season debut against the Boston Red Sox, Jacob deGrom was capped at 70-75 pitches, and he aced the outing with ease. He delivered five scoreless innings, racking up six strikeouts over 73 pitches, looking every bit like the elite pitcher fans adore.
For deGrom to exceed 16.5 outs today, he’ll need to pitch at least 5.2 innings. Assuming his pitch count gets a slight boost in his second start, that feels well within reach against a youthful Tampa Bay lineup. Honestly, he could even cruise through six innings under 70 pitches if the limit holds steady.

The 36-year-old struggled with his command, and allowed two homers and four walks. There were flashes of the old deGrom with four strikeouts, but a disappointing result consider the lineup and the park he was pitching in. He’ll face the Angels next week and look to lower a 4.30 ERA.
Dillon Dingler went 3-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI on Friday night, helping to lead the Tigers to a come-from-behind 7-6 victory over the Twins in Minneapolis.
The Tigers were staring at a 4-1 deficit heading into the sixth inning but they made quick work of that with a pair of walks and three consecutive singles to start the frame, with Dingler’s RBI single tying the game at 4-4. He also led off the fifth inning with a single and scored his club’s first run on a throwing error by Matt Wallner. Dingler has been absolutely sizzling at the plate to open the season, slashing .387/.406/.677 with a pair of homers and eight RBI.
