James Outman has joined the Dodgers in Miami, though he’s yet to be added to the active roster.
He’ll definitely be the choice if Teoscar Hernández requires an IL stint. If not, he might go right back to Oklahoma City. Outman has hit .254/.322/.508 with eight homers in the PCL this season, though that comes with 53 strikeouts in 146 plate appearances.
Mariners activated INF/OF Dylan Moore from the 10-day injured list.
Moore missed the minimum 10 days with hip inflammation. He was off to a great start beforehand, so he should resume playing pretty regularly for now, though he’ll likely need to go back to being benched against righties at some point. Miles Mastrobuoni and Leo Rivas will likely lose playing time.
Mariners optioned INF/OF Samad Taylor to Triple-A Tacoma.
Taylor went 1-for-8 in his week with the Mariners. At least he’s back on the 40-man roster now after being DFA’d and clearing waivers in January. If he gets DFA’d again at some point, he’ll be able to choose free agency if he wants.
Yankees recalled RHP Yerry De Los Santos from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
It’s the first official recall for De Los Santos this season, though he did pitch two scoreless innings as the 27th man in a doubleheader last month. The former Pirate had a 1.74 ERA in 10 1/3 innings as a reliever in Triple-A.
Yankees designated RHP Carlos Carrasco for assignment.
Chiefs signed seventh-round pick Brashard Smith to a four-year contract.
The seventh-rounder figures to be in the passing downs mix after the Chiefs let Samaje Perine walk this offseason. Isiah Pacheco should be the No. 1 back in the room on third downs, but Smith might be the primary competition with Kareem Hunt appearing mostly on run-down snaps last year and Elijah Mitchell having a strong tendency to not be on the field on passing downs in San Francisco. Smith has some intrigue in an Andy Reid offense but will likely have a low floor in 2025 as he attempts to establish himself on the depth chart.
