As per a normal Tuesday, we have a monster slate on our hands. 13 games on the docket, which means we're going to have a LOT of value everywhere we turn. Weeding out the good value is my job, so let's break into the vault!
Both Sites
Cole Irvin , SP OAK
Look, Seattle had a jolt of energy around them when they called up top prospect Jarred Kelenic, but that doesn’t change the fact that they’re still 28th in OPS against left-handed pitching. Irvin has four quality starts in his last five outings and has even flashed 30 DKP upside to boot. Seattle strikes out a TON (29.5%) against left-handed pitching and Irvin has flashed nine punch out upside. Irvin is viable in all formats.
Manuel Margot , TB OF
He’s in the midst of a really nice stretch at the dish as he’s riding a nine-game hitting streak, including three straight multi-hit games. Margot has driven in six runs and swiped two bags just over that three game span, just to give you an idea on how multi-dimensional his game is. His match-up against Brad Keller is one of the best on the board. Righties are hitting .347 with a .970 OPS against him this year. Margot is too cheap across the industry.
Gleyber Torres , NYY SS/2B
I think it’s fairly criminal we’re getting Torres at this price point as the Yankees are one of the top overall stacks of the day. They have one of the highest implied team totals and Torres has been rollin’ at the dish. He’s slashing .395/.425/.579 over his last 10 games and has four multi-hit outings in his last five games including three straight. Righties have a .344 wOBA versus Steven Matz this season and Torres is hitting .308 against southpaws this season.
DraftKings
Kevin Gausman , SF SP
I know the ballpark is a bit scary for starting pitching, but Gausman has been lights out this season. Also, $7,200 for a guy with a 1.66 ERA while striking out 66 in 59 innings? What are we doing here! Arizona’s offense is 19th in OPS and wOBA against right-handed pitching. Taking that a step further, they’re 28th in OPS over the last week. Gausman is one of the best values on either site.
Anthony Santander , BAL OF
Santander has been back for four games and has made a great impact offensively already. He has five extra-base hits, three straight multi-hit games and at least one run driven in in three straight as well. Santander has always been a better hitter from the left-side of the plate as he notched a .948 OPS and .387 wOBA against right-handed pitching last year. José Berríos has really struggled against lefty swingers this season allowing a .313 AVG, .970 OPS and .415 wOBA.
Adolis García, TEX OF
Is there any reason Garcia is still priced this way? What is the algorithm saying about a guy that has 14 HR on the year and five over his last 10 games alone? Over those 10 games he’s hitting .300, by the way. Garcia has belted six bombs against left-handed pitching and has a .361 wOBA against the handedness as well. He hits in the heart of the Texas order and has a really good spot against Andrew Heaney who’s allowed a 40% flyball rate and 1.85 HR/9.
FanDuel
Mike Yastrzemski , SF OF
The Diamondbacks are sending rookie Corbin Martin to the mound for this one and Martin will be making just his second career start. He allowed two home runs and eight base runners in his debut and now has to face a lethal Giants offense. Chase Field ranks fourth in runs scored per game and Yastrzemski is too cheap in this spot. He’s hit all six of his homers against right-handed pitching and has a .386 wOBA against them. He had a .952 OPS and .402 wOBA against them last season.
Alex Kirilloff , MIN OF
Before his injury stint, Kirilloff was rolling and he’s been OK since coming back, but we know there’s more in the tank. His meeting with Dean Kremer is a doozy considering Kremer allows 2.54 HR/9 innings. Kirilloff himself has a .490 SLG% and a 50% hard-hit rate this season. Would it surprise me if Kirilloff put one into the stands in this spot? No. No it wouldn’t at all.
Player News
Dodgers placed RHP Evan Phillips on the 10-day injured list with right forearm discomfort.
Phillips returns to the injured list just a couple weeks after making it back from last year’s tendon tear in his right rotator cuff. It’s a significant hit to Los Angeles’ high-leverage mix if he winds up requiring a lengthy absence. The 30-year-old righty has notched one save while tossing 5 2/3 scoreless innings across seven relief appearances this season. There should be an update on his status in the coming days.
White Sox selected the contract of INF Nick Maton from Triple-A Charlotte.
The White Sox are bring back Maton for another stint instead of slugging prospect Tim Elko for reasons that are unclear. The 28-year-old returns to the big leagues with Andrew Benintendi hitting the injured list with a calf strain. He hit .173 (9-for-52) with two homers and four RBI in 23 games earlier this season before being removed from Chicago’s 40-man roster.
White Sox placed OF Andrew Benintendi on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to April 5, with a left calf strain.
Benintendi heads to the injured list for some extra time off after missing a couple games earlier this week due to a calf issue. No word on the severity of the strain, which will determine how much time he misses. There should be an update on his status at some point later this week. It’ll be Brooks Baldwin taking over in left field in his absence.
Rangers recalled INF Ezequiel Duran from Triple-A Round Rock.
Duran returns to the big leagues with veteran outfielder Kevin Pillar hitting the shelf with a back strain. The 25-year-old offers some versatility in a bench role, but he’s been a non-factor at the dish for the better part of the last two seasons.
Rangers placed OF Kevin Pillar on the 10-day injured list with a lower back strain.
Pillar has been battling a lingering back issue the last few weeks and the Rangers are going to give him some extra time off to put the issue to bed. He’ll likely return in a couple weeks to his role as a reserve outfielder.
Jake Fraley is absent from Wednesday’s lineup with left calf tenderness.
Fraley will sit out Wednesday’s showdown at Truist Park in Atlanta with Reds manager Terry Francona telling reporters he’ll need to undergo an MRI to determine the severity of the issue. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now, but there’s a chance he winds up requiring a trip to the injured list.
