From a value standpoint, there’s not a whole lot to love about tonight’s five-game MLB DFS main slate. We try to use the Value Vault to help alert you of some pricing anomalies to exploit, but, once again, the Draft Kings prices are ridiculously high across the board and while FanDuel’s seem a little better, they’re not.
Still, here are a few plays to use for tonight’s action.
Both Sites:
Bryan Reynolds , OF PIT ($3,300 DK/$2,600 FD) – We’ve seen a solid effort from Reynolds thus far and he’s now hit safely in five of his last seven with two multi-hit performances with two doubles and four runs scored and four RBI. He is also tearing up left-handed pitching right now, posting a .643 wOBA with a 1.545 OPS against them. Southpaw Brett Anderson can struggle at times, especially against righties.
Draft Kings:
Dane Dunning , SP TEX ($7,500) – Rangers manager Chris Woodward needs to take the kid gloves off and let Dunning do his thing for more than just five innings. In two starts, he’s only gone a total of nine innings, but he’s also allowed only one run on five hits and two walks over that span. The Orioles are posting just a .281 collective wOBA vs righties with a 28.5-percent K-rate. As a second starter on DK, you just need him to go five innings and grab that win. He’ll keep the ratios down.
FanDuel:
Matt Shoemaker , SO MIN ($7,600) – After a strong debut against the Tigers, Shoemaker had some trouble with the Mariners in his next outing. His K-rate spiked, but he did give up four runs in just five innings. The Angels have been a strong team, but not many have a lot of experience, let alone success, against him. If you’re looking to squeeze in some big bats tonight, then a paydown here just might be the move.
Josh Donaldson , 3B MIN ($3,000) – He’s just working his way back into the lineup after dealing with his hamstring injury, so his price is more than affordable here on FanDuel. Donaldson is 3-for-6 with a walk, a run and an RBI during his first two games and has strong history against José Quintana -- .400 average with one home run over 15 at-bats.
