Elite Plays
Odell Beckham, NYG – Even if Joe Haden is shadowing, the Browns cornerback is still fresh off dealing with a groin issue. The pass defense has allowed 25 touchdowns through the air this season and ranks 31st against WR1.
Antonio Brown, PIT – Love that Colts secondary! The pass defense ranks 29th overall and allows 285 passing yards per game. They also rank 26th and give up an average of 90.3 yards per game to opposing WR1.
Julio Jones, ATL – While he only has two touchdowns in his last six games, he’s averaged 117.6 yards per game over his last five. The strongest defense he faced during that span was Seattle and he torched them for 139 yards and a touchdown. Not gonna worry about Patrick Peterson here.
T.Y. Hilton, IND – Well, Scott Tolzien has to throw it to somebody, right? The Steelers pass defense ranks 16th overall and 30th against WR1, allowing an average of 93.3 yards per game to them. Some garbage-time chucking, if you will.
Pricey but Affordable
Amari Cooper, OAK – He and Derek Carr have a nice thing going and are fully expected to take advantage of the Panthers porous secondary. Carolina ranks 27th against WR1 and allow an average of 84.3 yards per game to them.
Davante Adams, GB – While the Eagles pass defense ranks 2nd overall, they rank 19th against WR2. Aaron Rogers has been loading Adams up with targets as is, so look for them to connect often on Monday night.
Allen Robinson, JAC – As bad as Blake Bortles is…and he totally sucks…Robinson has still found the end zone in each of his last three games. The yardage has been soft this season, but the Bills rank dead-last against opposing WR1, so his chances of hitting pay-dirt again are pretty damn good.
Larry Fitzgerald, ARI – The Falcons, who rank 24th against opposing WR1 this season, allow an average of 283 passing yards per game and have given up 23 passing touchdowns.
Solid Values
Doug Baldwin, SEA – Hmmm. He’s got 163 yards, three receiving touchdowns and one passing touchdown in his last two games. Think maybe he’s having a late-season surge again? Sure looks like it. Tampa Bay’s secondary isn’t going to hold him down.
Mike Wallace, BAL – He’s got a tough match-up with Dre Kirkpatrick, but the Bengals still rank 26th against opposing WR2. He might not rack up huge yardage, but seems like a good bet for a touchdown.
Tyrell Williams, SD – He’s become a trusted target for Philip Rivers and sees plenty of targets inside the red zone. Houston ranks 31st against WR3 and slot receivers, so look for Williams to try and make it three games in a row with a touchdown.
Julian Edelman, NE – He’s got two touchdowns in his last three games, Gronk is likely to be out or, at best, limited and he faces the Jets’ 30th-ranked pass defense. Historically, he doesn’t have strong numbers against the Jets, but their secondary has never been as bad as it is right now.
Jamison Crowder, WAS – Touchdowns in each of his last three games; four in his last five. He’s also crossed the 100-yard threshold three times in his last four games. Now he faces Dallas who ranks 27th against WR3 and slot receivers, so look for his upward trajectory to continue.
DeVante Parker, MIA – The 49ers might be more well-known for their crappy run defense, but the pass defense ranks 21st and is weak against the outside receivers. With Jarvis Landry banged up and seeing fewer targets, look for Parker to continue stepping forward in this pass attack.
Adam Thielen, MIN – With Stefon Diggs expected to be out for Thursday’s game, look for Thielen to step forward and take advantage of the Lions’ 32nd-ranked pass defense. He can line up anywhere on the field so don’t expect Darius Slay to shadow him.
Sterling Shepard, NYG – The Victor Cruz ankle injury helped open the door for more targets and suddenly everything we were saying about Shepard in the preseason is now finally happening. Eli Manning is trusting him on crucial third and fourth downs while also looking for him inside the red zone and this match-up with Cleveland is way too tasty to pass up.
Bargain Hunting
John Brown, ARI – The Falcons rank 26th against receivers coming out of the slot and are giving up and average of 8.7 catches for 73 yards per game to them. I’ve never been a fan of his but for this week, I’ll be using him in a number of GPP lineups.
Eli Rogers, PIT – Again, that Colts secondary is super-soft and ranks 18th against opposing WR2. You’re looking for the long touchdown bomb here and the Colts have definitely obliged in that department this season. Love that price tag for GPP tournaments.
Adam Humphries, TB – The Seahawks rank 24th against opposing WR2 and will be keeping much of their attention on Mike Evans. Humphries will help the Bucs thrive in the short-passing game and stands a good chance of sneaking in for a touchdown.
Dorial Green-Beckham, PHI – Another GPP dart here as Green-Beckham seems to have overtaken Nelson Agholor as the WR2 opposite Jordan Matthews. The Packers struggle against the outside wideouts, and DGB showed some promise with his 54 yards and a touchdown last week against Seattle. The production has been spotty and he’s been quiet against soft pass defenses, but maybe Agolor’s case of the drops is re-defining DGB’s role.
Player News
Georgia EDGE Mykel Williams visited the Falcons on Wednesday.
Williams posted on his Instagram that he visited the Falcons facility on what was the last day of pre-draft visits. The 20-year-old is a Georgia native, played at the University of Georgia, and is expected to be selected in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. The Falcons have a need for an edge rusher and hold the No. 15 pick. They may look to keep Williams in-state and add his skillset to their pass-rushing group. Williams tallied five sacks last season and has explosive production for any team looking to add an edge rusher in the first round.
Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz reports Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart “won’t fall out of the first round.”
Schultz reports his sources are indicating that Dart will not fall out of the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. He continues that the Giants are a candidate to trade up from pick No. 34 into the first round to take Dart if they do not take a quarterback at pick No. 3. The Saints are also an option with pick No. 9 or a trade up from pick No. 40. Dart is generally considered the third quarterback to come off the board after Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders, so a team in need of a franchise quarterback may take a chance on him after Ward and Sanders are selected. Teams could look to gain a fifth-year option on Dart and trade into the first round if he is not taken earlier.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports Raiders LT Kolton Miller is not participating in the voluntary offseason program and seeks an extension.
Miller was the Raiders’ first-round pick in 2018 and has started 107 games over seven seasons for the team. He is set to enter the final year of his current contract in 2025, making $12.25 million. Though he is not technically holding out yet since the offseason program is voluntary, Fowler notes Miller is seeking an extension. He finished last season with an 80.6 PFF grade, No. 14 among offensive tackles. Miller has been the Raiders’ franchise left tackle for seven years now and both sides will certainly discuss an extension as training camp nears.
Virginia Tech RB Bhayshul Tuten said he had a private workout with the Commanders’ running backs coach.
Tuten didn’t name him directly, but Anthony Lynn is currently the Commanders’ running backs coach and run game coordinator. The Commanders were hampered by injuries to both Brian Robinson Jr. and Austin Ekeler last year. Robinson Jr. missed three games and played through some of his injuries while Ekeler missed five contests and was limited to just 112 touches. Tuten crushed the combine with a 4.32 Forty at 5'9/206. He handled 200 touches in back-to-back seasons at Virginia Tech while topping 1,100 yards from scrimmage in both campaigns. He would offer the Washington backfield a good mix of durability and home run potential.
Titans released OG Logan Bruss.
Drafted in 2022 by the Rams, Russ didn’t appear in his first NFL game until last year. He appeared in eight games for the Rams to start the year, three of which were starts, but was then cut. The Titans claimed him and he appeared in three more games. Bruss suffered a torn ACL in practice ahead of Week 14. His recovery will determine how quickly he finds a new home. The Titans also released LB Curtis Bolton, WR Stanley Morgan, DT McTelvin Agim, DT Isaiah Itonm, and DB Gervarrius Owens.
Giants GM Joe Schoen said drafting a quarterback isn’t “mandatory” after signing Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston.
Adding two journeyman quarterbacks won’t prevent the Giants from drafting a quarterback, but it at least gives them emergency options if they strike out on draft night. New York currently holds the No. 3 overall pick. Shedeur Sanders has a private workout with them this week and remains a candidate for their first-round selection. The Giants also have private workouts with Tyler Shough and Jalen Milroe lined up. Neither player is expected to be drafted inside the top five, but the Giants could be eying a quarterback with pick No. 34. Russell Wilson can be penciled in as the Week 1 starter for now, but he’s far from a safe bet to make all 17 starts.
