Last night was a bad night. There is no way around it and if you read my blurbs in here then you kind of had an idea that we were due for a let down. What is important is that you understand that nights like last are perfectly normal. If you are the type to freak out about a loss or a bad night I am telling you that DFS is simply not for you. This is a game for strong minded and willed people who are not going to let losses drag them down. The fact is Collin McHugh was a dog for the first time in over a year last night and for that we will never forgive him. The good news is that we have Matt Harvey in a very tasty matchup this evening and we will attack that with all the verocity of a hungry wolf alone in a dark forest.
If you managed to pull out your 50/50's yesterday congratulations. This is a sign that you are advancing and are a force to be reckon with in this game. For today we are ignoring the three early games which sucks because I'd love to get me some shares of Gio Gonzalez, Bryce Harper or Mark Trumbo but such is life. Let's focus on the big 12 game slate that begins at 7:05 PM ET.
Here is the DFS MLB Playbook for Wednesday May 13th:

Player News
Austin Slater will miss 4-6 weeks after undergoing surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee.
Slater hit the injured list last weekend and will be out until at least mid-to-late May. The 32-year-old will return in a lefty-mashing platoon role once he’s completed his rehabilitation process.
Manny Machado went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI in the Padres’ 4-2 defeat of the Cubs on Wednesday.
Machado had already been hitting with RISP, but he wasn’t getting a ton of chances. He capitalized twice today to bring his season total to nine RBI in 19 games. There’s nothing wrong with that, of course. It just seems like he should have more while batting .324 with two homers overall and .389 with runners in scoring position for the team with the best record in baseball.
Nick Pivetta tossed six innings of one-run ball and fanned six Wednesday in a win over the Cubs.
Pivetta again went without allowing a homer today. It figured that the move to San Diego would be quite a positive in that regard, and he’s given up just one in four starts, with that coming in his lone road outing. In Petco thus far, he’s allowed a total of one run and eight hits over 20 innings, producing all three of his victories. He’ll pitch in Detroit next time out, and he’s still a quality option there.
Robert Suarez pitched a perfect ninth against the Cubs to earn his eighth save Wednesday.
Suarez was warming and almost came in during the eighth, but Wandy Peralta was able to finish the frame. He then had an easy eight-pitch ninth. Suarez has still yet to allow a run this season.
Matthew Boyd took a loss Wednesday after allowing two runs in 5 1/3 innings against the Padres.
The runs came on a walk and three singles in the third. Nico Hoerner also made an incredible play on the second hit, flipping the ball between his legs to first, but it wasn’t quick enough to get an out with Fernando Tatis Jr. running. Boyd dropped to 1-2 in spite of his 2.01 ERA. He’ll hope for more support next week against the Dodgers.
Tyler Wade went 2-for-2 with two walks and two runs scored Wednesday against the Cubs.
It’s not often that we blurb about Wade based on in-game performance, but we couldn’t let this one pass by; Wade reached base safely four times for the first in 451 games since making his major league debut in 2017. With both Jackson Merrill and Brandon Lockridge on the IL, Wade was making his second start in center field today. He’ll continue to see time there against righties until Merrill returns.
