We had a pretty good night last night, so let’s take that momentum and ride it straight to today’s DFS MLB split slate.
FanDuel does offer an all-day slate that will include the 12:10 PM DET/CLE game, but its Early Slate will start at 1:05 PM ET.
DraftKings actually completely ignores the 12:10 PM ET start and simply has the 6-game Early Slate that starts at 1:05 PM ET. This is the exact same situation on FantasyAces.
For the sake of simplicity, I will only focus on the 6-game early slate (1:05 PM ET roster lock) and the 8-game late slate (7:07 PM ET roster lock) for all sites.
Rain concerns: I’d keep an eye on both Chicago games for sure. The Cubs game looks much better than the White Sox game, but they’re both worth checking out the latest and greatest weather forecasts to make sure they’re all okay.

EARLY SLATE
Matt Wieters will face his former battery mate, Bud Norris, in an interleague matchup at Dodger Stadium. I’ve mentioned this a few times before, but I’ll say it again, I love playing catchers against pitchers who they’ve caught many times prior. No one has the ability to know how a pitch looks at the plate more than a catcher.
Willson Contreras is still ridiculously cheap throughout the industry. He has homers in two of his last three games and hits in eight of his last nine. Will undoubtedly be a popular option as long as the weather cooperates.
LATE SLATE
Brian McCann is uber-expensive, but has a ton of upside against Miguel Gonzalez of the White Sox. McCann has homered off of Gonzalez two times in 17 plate appearances while maintaining a .412 OBP with zero strikeouts.
Buster Posey has been a solid 10-for-36 (.378 AVG) with a homer, four doubles, eight RBIs, and a .372 OBP against Jorge De La Rosa of the Rockies.
Mike Zunino would have been an awesome play last night, especially considering how awful Yan Gomes was, but he’ll more than likely be in there tonight as the Mariners take on Mike Fiers of the Astros.

EARLY SLATE
Freddie Freeman matches up extremely well against Jeremy Hellickson. According to PITCHf/x, Freeman has a positive PITCHf/x value for each of the four pitches that Hellickson throws the most often (four-seam/two-seam fastball, changeup, and curveball).
Ryan Zimmerman is dirt cheap throughout the industry and has maintained a .524 OBP against Matt Garza through 21 career plate appearances.
LATE SLATE
Paul Goldschmidt isn’t cheap, but he gets a nice matchup against Colin Rea, and has been filling up the scorecard in every way imaginable, racking up three doubles, six runs, and seven RBIs in his last six games.
Kendrys Morales is only $2800 on FanDuel. You have got to be crapping me. If you don’t know what’s up with Morales right now, just look at his game log and shake your head.
Prince Fielder knows how to hit a knuckleball and is arguably the best knuckleball hitter on the Rangers roster. Love his value throughout the industry if you need some savings at first base.

EARLY SLATE
Brian Dozier is bating .429/.500/.857 with a homer against Sonny Gray throughout his career.
Neil Walker sadly did not get the start last night after I touted his prowess this season against left-handed pitchers. He’ll get the chance to prove it again today, thanks to a matchup with Justin Nicolino. Plus, he’s a sensational value on both DraftKings and FanDuel.
LATE SLATE
Jose Altuve continues to mash lefties at Minute Maid and gets a weak lefty in Wade LeBlanc. While LeBlanc may have looked solid in his two starts, don’t expect that to last from a guy who has a career 4.60 xFIP and 42.1% Fly Ball Rate.
Robinson Cano hasn’t been hitting for much power, but he has still been getting on-base with consistency, maintaining a solid .385 OBP over his last 15 games. His price tag has dropped significantly on FanDuel where he is only $3300.
Johnny Giavotella is your best bet for some salary relief at second base. He has a 5-game hitting streak where he went 8-for-24 (.333 AVG) with a triple, two doubles, and five runs scored.

EARLY SLATE
Kris Bryant gets to face Anthony DeSclafani at Wrigley on a day where the forecast projects winds blowing out at 10-to-15 MPH. Approach at the plate definitely fits DeSclafani’s repertoire.
Wilmer Flores has a great shot at getting another start against the southpaw, Justin Nicolino of the Marlins. He disappointed a good percentage of the industry after a big donut last night against Wei-Yin Chen, but gets a better matchup today against Nicolino, who has been pitiful against righties.
LATE SLATE
Josh Donaldson was basically trolling me with his 1-for-16 line against Chris Young. Sorry, I just can’t roster a guy for that much money when was previously successful less than 10% of the time against him. On the other hand, his matchup with Ian Kennedy tonight is absolutely delicious, and on paper, is a better one that suits Donaldson’s skillset (he’s going 0-for-5 with 4 strikeouts, you’ve been warned).
Jake Lamb may be my favorite non-BvP play of the day. While he has never faced Colin Rea before, PITCHf/x has him crushing Rea in every one of the pitches in his repertoire. He has four homers in his last six starts and should be considered in all formats.
Yangervis Solarte wasn’t able to hit another one out of the yard, but he did get another RBI single, which brings his RBI total to four in his last three games. Price is solid and matchup is more than reasonable against Shelby Miller.

Corey Seager has the bat speed to catch up to Kevin Gausman and his hard fastball. Gausman throws the fastball 62.5% of the time, and if Seager can get ahold of one, you’ll be seeing the ball fly into the pavilion.
Andres Blanco faces a very green Tyrell Jenkins who has struggled in limited action this season. Jenkins has not been able to develop any secondary pitches, and exclusively throws the four-seam fastball and slider. Those also happen to be two pitches that Blanco has hit well against throughout his career.
LATE SLATE
Xander Bogaerts is batting .333/.429/.500 against lefties at Fenway. $3400 on FanDuel isn’t too shabby either.
Troy Tulowitzki is batting under the Mendoza line against Ian Kennedy of the Royals, but three of his six hits off of Kennedy have gone out of the ballpark.
Jedd Gyorko gets a good matchup against Jeff Locke of the Pirates. Locke heavily relies on his two-seam fastball and a changeup, both of which are pitches that Gyorko can hold his own against. He may be struggling this season against lefties, but it likely has a lot to do with his sporadic playing time. Over his three previous seasons, he was able to keep up a .335 OBP with 13 homers in just 331 at-bats against southpaws.

EARLY SLATE
Jay Bruce continues to be expensive, but his upside is ginormous today with the wind blowing out at Wrigley. Bruce has done well in bunches this season, and he is coming off of a nice day in Wrigley yesterday, homering for the first time in nine games.
Yoenis Cespedes faces Justin Nicolino who has been utter garbage against right-handed hitters this season. Cespedes is on one of his patented hot streaks and has maintained a 9-game hitting streak while hitting three homers over his last six games.
Jayson Werth has crushed Matt Garza throughout his career. Werth is batting .400/.429/.700 with a homer over 21 plate appearances against the veteran right-hander.
Mark Trumbo is inexplicably only $3000 on FanDuel today. I feel like I don’t really need to say much more than that, especially for a guy who is tied for the league lead in home runs.
Peter Bourjos is the hottest player in baseball that no one has any clue about. While Bourjos is mainly known for his defense (to the point where he was the guy who forced Torii Hunter to move from Center Field to Right Field and kept Mike Trout at Left Field), he has been killing it lately. He has a 14-game hitting streak, where he has gone 25-for-54 (.463 AVG) with three homers, two triples, and three doubles.
Hyun-Soo Kim gets a great matchup against Bud Norris of the Dodgers. I am truly unsure why, but he continue stop be an incredible value for how consistent he is at the plate.
LATE SLATE
George Springer has a 6-game hitting streak where he has gone 8-for-23 (.348 AVG) with a couple homers and six runs scored.
Matt Kemp matches up well against Shelby Miller and all, but he’s just way too freaking expensive on FanDuel today. GPPs are fine, but you’re crippling your cash lineup if you roster him. $4000 is a decent price point though on DraftKings and that’s where I’m recommending you to play him.
Carlos Beltran is 5-for-9 (.556 AVG) with four extra-base hits, lifetime, against Miguel Gonzalez of the Orioles.
Stephen Piscotty loves facing lefties. While he has limited meetings against Jeff Locke, he has looked pretty darn good against the southpaw over six plate appearances, accumulating a .667 OBP and taking a pitch out of the yard.
Carlos Gonzalez is only $3000 on FanDuel tonight thanks to a tough matchup against Johnny Cueto. Nevertheless, CarGo has batted a solid .304/.360/.478 with a home run, lifetime, against Cueto, and should have every opportunity in the world to reach value.
Sean Rodriguez, way back when, outplayed the highly touted Brandon Wood to gain decent playing time for the Angels. Flash forward half a decade, and Rodriguez is still super utility man who will be a mainstay in the Majors for quite some time. He is flat-out a beast against lefties, batting .292/.424/.479 against southpaws this season. Will be highly contrarian anywhere you play him.
Alex Dickerson is still a reasonable $2600 on FanDuel and $2500 on DraftKings, which is a nice price point for someone with good power upside.
Steven Souza Jr. is going to be playing with a chip on his shoulder tonight after he was pulled from the game because of a lack of hustle. Don’t be surprised in there’s some fireworks tonight from Souza, who has homered against Jered Weaver in the past.
Michael Bourn seems to always been dirt cheap on FanDuel and can be a nice punt play if you need the salary relief. He’s constantly batting in front of Goldy against right-handed pitching, and is consistently seeing good pitches. Bourn has a 6-game hitting streak and is coming off of a 3-hit night.
