Player News
Noelvi Marte scalded a go-ahead RBI triple on Monday, powering the Reds to a 3-1 victory over the division-rival Cardinals.
Marte put Cincinnati ahead for good with a run-scoring triple to 101-mph triple into the left-center field gap that brought Gavin Lux around to score all the way from first base. The 23-year-old former top prospect appears to be putting together a legitimate breakthrough campaign this season, hitting .370 (17-for-46) with three homers, 16 RBI and four steals in 13 games since returning to the majors back in mid-April. He’s worthy of a roster spot in all fantasy formats as a five-category impact contributor. He’s showing exactly why he was such a highly-touted prospect prior to last year’s suspension and struggles upon returning from the extended layoff.
Matt McLain went 1-for-4 with a stolen base on Monday in a win over the Cardinals.
Emilio Pagán tossed a perfect ninth inning on Monday against the Cardinals to notch his eighth save of the season.
Pagán was summoned to protect a two-run lead and needed just seven pitches (six strikes to slam the door, coaxing a ground out from Willson Contreras before getting Brendan Donovan and Nolan Arenado to fly out harmlessly.
Nick Martinez allowed one run over six innings on Monday in a win over the Cardinals.
Andre Pallante surrendered three runs over six innings on Monday in a loss to the Reds.
Dodgers recalled RHP Noah Davis from Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Davis returns to the majors with Dodgers ace Tyler Glasnow (shoulder) hitting the injured list prior to Monday’s series opener against the Marlins. The 28-year-old righy has made three relief appearances this season for Los Angeles. He’ll operate in middle relief situations out of the bullpen.
