I watch all of the games so that you don't have to and every week I pick fill out my legal pad with news and notes that you will not get anywhere else. These are the notes from a fantasy football perspective and can only be told by someone who actually witnessed the moments.

Here are the recaps for NFL Week 8:

21 – San Diego at Denver – 35

There were just two players from this game that I recommended in the Thursday DFS Playbook and they were Emmanuel Sanders (9-120-3) & Antonio Gates (5-54-2).

Speaking of Antonio Gates, he became the Chargers all time leader in receiving yards tonight with 9,610 breaking the previous mark of 9,584 held by WR Lance Alworth.

As crazy as people think that I am, sticking with Keenan Allen proved to be a good thing at least for this week as he popped off for 9-73-1.

I would sell high on Ronnie Hillman if you can right now. I don’t think that he will lose the starting job even when Montee Ball returns but if you can get a more talented RB or possibly two starters you should do it.

Injuries: LB Lamin Barrow (concussion)

22 – Detroit at Atlanta – 21 (Played in London)

I really don’t enjoy the early game in London. This game started at 9:30 AM ET and it just really throws off fantasy players routine.

The Falcons were up 14-0 real early today and lead 21-0 at one point, but couldn’t get on track offensively after that. It’s concerning to me how little Matt Ryan forces the ball to Julio Jones. When he did late in this game, the offense actually moved. You’ll notice that when Calvin Johnson is healthy, Stafford makes a point to force the ball into his hands at whatever cost.

If not for a delay of game penalty on the Lions at the end of the game, the Falcons would have won. Matt Prater missed a 43 yard field goal wide right but the referees ruled that the play didn’t count because the play clock was at zero when ball was snapped. Prater knocked in the 48 yarder then to give the Lions the win.

Golden Tate is another great sell high candidate. When Calvin Johnson returns, Tate will not longer get the crazy amount of targets, receptions or TD’s that he’s received the past three weeks. Tate will continue to be a productive fantasy player for sure, but not at the level he is right now.

Injuries: RB Antone Smith (neck), DT Paul Soliai (neck), RT Gabe Carimi (ankle), DT Nick Fairley (knee)

7 – St. Louis at Kansas City – 34

Anytime these two teams are playing one another they are playing for the Missouri Cup. The Chiefs took back the cup after the Rams had held it since a 2012 preseason victory.

This game is why I had said all week not to start or trust Rams RB Tre Mason outside of deeper PPR league formats. I don’t want anything to do with these Rams RB’s this season.

The Fantasy Alarm Gameday chat was abuzz after this game with love for Knile Davis. Remember, Davis is only a handcuff for Jamaal Charles and can never, ever be counted on if Charles is healthy and starting.

I hope that Jon Gruden was watching this game. If so, I would like him to again tell me how this Rams offense resembles the “greatest show on turf” teams from the late ‘90’s and early 2000’s.

Injuries: LT Jake Long (knee), RT Rodger Saffold (shoulder), C Scott Wells (leg), WR Brian Quick (arm), S Rodney McLeod (knee)

30 – Houston at Tennessee 16

Zach Mettenberger did well in his first career start. He went 27-41, 299 yards, 2 TD’s & 1 INT. There is nothing lacking in his arm strength or leadership here rather the only downfall being that he is too slow and stationary in the pocket. Mettenberger is going to have to learn how to step up and move laterally to gain better passing lanes and avoid pressure.

Mettenberger definitely likes throwing the ball to Justin Hunter. Hunter had 10 targets in this game although he only secured four of them. Fortunately, one of those was good for a 12 yard TD reception.

I am still not going to put my fantasy team in the hands of Arian Foster. I simply do not trust him, his back, his hamstrings or his oft-injured feelings.

Andre Johnson temporarily left this game with a leg injury but returned two series later. He seemed fine the rest of the way.

JaDaveon Clowney played on a limited basis today recording just one tackle and tackle for loss on the day.

Injuries: WR Nate Washington (shoulder)

19 – Minnesota at Tampa Bay – 13 (Overtime)

The Vikings won this game on a TD in overtime when Anthony Barr stripped the ball away from Austin Seferian-Jenkins and returned it 27 yards to paydirt.

Vincent Jackson didn’t have a reception until the fourth quarter and finished with just 1-13 on the afternoon. Unless he gets traded his fantasy value is currently at an all time low.

None of the Buccaneers RB’s have any fantasy value going forward. That absolutely includes Charles Sims who will be back in a week or two to join this horrible backfield.

Teddy Bridgewater started out this game 9-10, 112 yards but came unglued especially in the second half. I have no faith in him whatsoever now or for the future.

Cordarrelle Patterson received a career high 12 targets today and hauled in 6-86. It’s a solid effort for sure but should put an exclamation point at the end of Patterson’s lack of fantasy impact even with a truckload of touches.

Dear lord do I love to watch Jerick McKinnon run. He is fast, powerful and is starting to get comfortable with contact as well. He’s going to have a big second half of the season.

Injuries: RB Doug Martin (ankle)

13 – Seattle at Carolina – 9

The Seahawks lulled the Panthers into this victory today. The Panthers completely controlled this game but never went for the throat on offense. This was the third straight season that the Seahawks have pulled out a late victory against the Panthers.

Kelvin Benjamin was benched to begin the game due to coach’s decision. He entered the game after the first series and did well. Although Benjamin did drop a pass in the endzone and was overthrown on a deep ball by Cam Newton.

If you own Marshawn Lynch you should be worried. Amid all of the pregame rumors of the Seahawks being tired of Lynch’s act, he was not a focus of the offense today. I am stunned by the lack of snaps, carries and touches by Lynch today and have no other choice but to believe he is being phased out in Seattle.

Steven Hauschka remains a bright spot for fantasy owners though. His 58 yard FG today brought many of us bonus points and is a reason that he remains a top five fantasy kicker.

Injuries: S Thomas DeCoud (hamstring)

24 – Baltimore at Cincinnati – 27

The play of the game was an 80 yard TD reception by Steve Smith with 30 seconds remaining in the game. The score was nullified however because Steve Smith, as usual, pushed off and thus was called for offensive pass interference.

Bernard Pierce was a healthy scratch for this game leaving just Justin Forsett and Lorenzo Taliaferro to carry the ball for the Ravens. Taliaferro was the star today though rushing 7-27-2 and also leading the Ravens in receiving going 2-42.

Andy Dalton rushed for two TD’s today the final one coming on a fourth-and-one play that proved to be the game winner.

The Ravens had an early goal line situation themselves going for it on fourth-and-goal in the first quarter and failing to convert.

Injuries: RB Giovani Bernard (hip), RG Kevin Zeitler (calf), WR Torrey Smith (concussion), WR Michael Campanaro (hamstring), CB Jimmy Smith (foot)

27 – Miami at Jacksonville – 13

Despite the score, the Dolphins offense did not play well today. Lucky for them, Blake Bortles threw two pick-6’s which gave the Dolphins the points they needed to coast on the offensive side.

Lamar Miller had just two rushing attempts for eight yards at halftime. This was mostly due to Ryan Tannehill preferring to keep the ball more on the read-option in the first half. When he let Miller have the ball he did quite well and the offense opened up in the second half of the game.

There should be little question anymore that Allen Robinson is the Jaguars top wide receiver. Robinson went for another 5-82-1 this afternoon and at this point he has to be regarded as a solid WR3 going forward.

Denard Robinson became the first Jaguars RB since Maurice Jones-Drew in 2011 to rush for 100+ yards in consecutive games. Anybody who watched this game however realizes that Robinson absolutely sucks. He broke free for a 41 yard run early and that really padded his stats for the entire game. I am still not impressed.

Injuries: LT Luke Joeckel (concussion), LG Daryn Colledge (head), OG Nate Garner (ankle)

23 – Chicago at New England – 51

Rob Gronkowksi had nine catches, 149 yards and three TD’s in this game. He was removed midway through the third quarter due to dehydration. This was a domination of the Bears defense by the entire Patriots offense but especially Rob Gronkowsi.

Despite the amazing performance of 11-124-1, Brandon LaFell is nothing more than a low level WR3 or FLEX option in fantasy football.

Rookie RB James White was active today but it was still Jonas Gray who led the Patriots RB’s in touches today going 17-86 on the ground.

Julian Edelman’s lack of production lately can be tied directly to his drops. Edelman had four drops last week and added another three today which has to concern us fantasy players quite a bit. He is still getting a ton of snaps and targets but until he stops with the dropped passes, Edelman will be no more than a mid level WR3.

The Bears were horrible in every fashion today. But, at the end of the day Jay Cutler went for 20-30, 227 yards and 3 TD’s. Matt Forte went 19-114 on the ground and 6-54-1 through the air. Only Brandon Marshall can be looked at as a disappointment fantasy wise today.

Injuries: Rob Gronkowski (dehydration), LB Lamarr Houston (knee), LB Darryl Sharpton (hamstring), CB Kyle Fuller (hip), LG Matt Slauson (pectoral)

43 – Buffalo at N.Y. Jets – 23

Geno Smith is getting worse and Michael Vick has no interest in playing football anymore. The Jets coaching staff are dead man walking. It wouldn’t be surprising to hear that Rex Ryan is fired as soon as this week.

Geno Smith was benched in the first quarter after throwing 3 straight INT.

Percy Harvin went to the locker room for an undisclosed injury after Geno Smith’s second INT of the game. Harvin remained in the locker room until Michel Vick was inserted into the lineup. Now I am not saying there is definitely a correlation there but to ignore this would be unwise as well.

Sammy Watkins had another outstanding day. But it should have been even better. Watkins caught an 84 yard bomb and while celebrating his inevitable TD, was tackled at the four yard line.

Both Anthony Dixon and Bryce Brown couldn’t get going on the ground today.  But it was apparent that Dixon will be the lead ball carrier and Brown used in the majority of passing situations.

Injuries: WR Robert Woods (back)

20 – Philadelphia at Arizona – 24

Penalties in the game were out of control. The Eagles were flagged 11 times for 103 yards while the Cardinals were called out 10 times for 95 yards.

Jeremy Maclin was evaluated for a possible concussion but was cleared and returned after missing just one series.

Larry Fitzgerald’s 80 yard TD reception was the longest of his career.

John Brown is a very impressive player. The over the shoulder catch he made today makes you realize that this kid is a star in the making. Unfortunately, he has both Michael Floyd and Larry Fitzgerald ahead of him on the depth chart.

Michael Floyd was completely shut out today. He had four targets and caught one pass that was called back due to penalty. He should be REAL cheap in DFS next week.

13 – Oakland at Cleveland – 23

The Browns without starting Center Alex Mack who is out for the season, is having a very difficult time running the ball right now. Unlike last week where I called Ben Tate out this week it was not his fault.

The worst thing the Browns could do is replace Brian Hoyer with Johnny Manziel anytime soon. Hoyer is the reason the Browns are winning games right now as he is keeping them cool under pressure and coming through in the clutch.

Matt Schaub made his first regular season appearance as an Oakland Raider by throwing an interception on his first and only pass attempt.

The Raiders haven’t won a game since November 17th, 2013.

Injuries: TE Jordan Cameron (concussion), CB K’Waun Williams (neck), DE John Hughes (knee)

34 – Indianapolis at Pittsburgh – 51

This was the highest scoring game of the season and was such after just three quarters.

Trent Richardson was technically active today but did not play whatsoever. Dan Herron only received two touches in place of Richardson.

The Colts came into this game as the 5th best defense against the pass, was giving up the least fantasy points to WR’s and second least fantasy points to QB’s. Then they got obliterated today giving up 522 passing yards to Ben Roethlisberger.

T.Y. Hilton has caught a 45+ yard pass in three consecutive games now.

Donte Moncrief was obviously Andrew Luck’s preferred replacement for Reggie Wayne today. Moncrief caught seven passes for 113 yards and one touchdown. He also led the Colts in targets with 12 today.

Martavis Bryant is a very important red zone target for this Steelers team. I full expect him to continue to be a useful player in standard scoring formats.

Injuries: CB Vontae Davis (knee), LB Erik Walden (hip)

23 – Green Bay at New Orleans – 44

Aaron Rodgers had 203 yards passing in the first quarter along. He wound up going 28-39, 418 yards, 1 TD and 2 INT.

It seems impossible but Jordy Nelson finished up with just three receptions for 25 yards on the night.

As well as Davante Adams did tonight he isn’t going to be useful to fantasy owners unless either Jordy Nelson or Randall Cobb go down with an injury.

This was an ideal matchup for Brandin Cooks. He matched up real well with the slower footed Packers DB’s. He is still a high end WR3 going into week nine.

So much for Travaris Cadet being heavily involved in the Saints game plan tonight. He had just one carry for seven yards and four catches for 40 yards tonight.

Mark Ingram ran for 24-172-1 with 92 of those yards coming after contact.

Injuries: RG T.J. Lang (ankle)
