Game 2 of the National League Championship Series kicks off with a battle between the New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday afternoon.

The Dodgers won Game 1 in a dominating fashion, taking it to the Mets 9-0 behind seven shutout innings from Jack Flaherty and three RBI from Mookie Betts.

Game 2 sees the home team Dodgers going with a bullpen game with Ryan Braiser as the set “opener” while the Mets counter with Sean Manaea who has been their best starter this postseason. Before giving our Mets vs Dodgers predictions, let's take a look at the top storylines and pitching matchups.

New York Mets: Can Manaea Keep It Going?

The Mets bats were shutout and their pitching failed in Game 1 so in Game 2 they turn to the man that has been their best starter in the postseason in Sean Manaea

Manaea tossed seven innings of one run baseball against the Phillies in Game 3 and will now have the tough test of shutting down this Dodgers lineup.

Los Angeles Dodgers: Will the Pitching Hold Up?

Jack Flaherty did his part in Game 1 but now the short staffed Dodgers turn to their bullpen for Game 2. Braiser, the “opener” made three appearances against the Padres in the NLDS, allowing two runs over 3.2 innings.

He made two appearances against the Mets this season and struggled, allowing two runs on four hits over 1.2 innings.

With the bullpen well rested, lets see if they can keep the Mets bats at bay for back-to-back games.

Mets vs. Dodgers Starting Pitcher & Lineup

Sean Manaea, New York Mets

A pleasant surprise for the Mets this season, Manaea went 12-6 with a 3.47 ERA while striking out 184 over 181.2 innings.

During the postseason, Manaea is 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA which includes his impressive Game 3 outing against the Phillies where he allowed just one run over seven innings.

He will certainly have his hands full tonight against a really good Dodgers lineup.

That said, in his lone start against the Dodgers this season he managed to go five innings while only allowing two earned runs.

A similar performance would be the Mets in a great spot to win Game 2.

Bullpen Game - Los Angeles Dodgers

The biggest problem for the Dodgers this season has been the health of their starting rotation. They got an amazing lift from Jack Flaherty last night as the righty pitched seven innings of shutout baseball and was able to save the bullpen knowing that today they likely use 4-5 different pitchers.

Mets vs. Dodgers Predictions For NL Championship Series Game 2

The Dodgers won in a rout in Game 1 with a final score of 9-0. From the beginning of the season the Dodgers were the favorite to win the World Series but I don't think anyone expected to see how Game 1 played out as the Mets bats were finally silenced while the Dodgers offense hammered the Mets pitching staff.

In Game 2 there is a different test as the Dodgers are relying on their bullpen to get them through while the Mets lean on one of their best pitchers in Sean Manaea to tie the series.

Can the Mets hitters get it going after being shut out last night?

or

Will the Dodgers offense carry them to a Game 2 victory.

Mets vs. Dodgers: Mets ML (+130 at DraftKings Sportsbook)

Yeah, I'm going right back to the well with the Mets here. The Dodgers bullpen has been solid this postseason but the NLCS jitters are gone for the Mets and I expect that offense to put up some runs today while leaning on Manaea to give them quality innings after they had to use a handful of bullpen arms in Game 1.
