Following a lost series at home against the Cincinnati Reds, the San Francisco Giants flew across the country to start their series with the New York Yankees last night. The Bronx Bombers can’t seem to escape the bad weather after a series in Detroit against the Tigers, and more of the same is expected for our Giants vs. Yankees predictions today.

You’ll also be able to add to the best bet from our Giants vs. Yankees picks with a guaranteed $55 Sleeper Fantasy promo code bonus.

Giants vs. Yankees Predictions For MLB On FS1, 4/12

It wasn’t the snow forecast of the Motor City, but there was certainly fear of postponement ahead of last night’s game. That wasn’t the case, but the Yankees were certainly wishing it was right off the bat, no pun intended.

Starter Marcus Stroman allowed five runs (all earned) in the top of the very first inning, and worse yet, didn’t even make it out of that inning. The Yankees tried to answer back quickly in the second inning, but ultimately never crawled back into the game, which ended in a 9-1 San Francisco win.

It ended a four-game losing streak to the Bronx Bombers for the Giants, as well as nine of the last 10. While getting swept in the season series last year, they even lost all three games by multiple runs, so this one felt good for San Fran.

Despite all that, New York is favored once again this afternoon, and while the weather could end up being a factor again, we’ve still got a best bet from our Giants vs. Yankees predictions for you.

San Francisco Giants: Jordan Hicks Faces An Old Friend

The Yankees are rather clearly favored, although not massively, although not massively, even with the pitching matchup today. Neither team is throwing out an ace by any means, but Giants starter Jordan Hicks is more than familiar with New York. As a former Toronto Blue Jay, he had two appearances against the Yankees.

Hicks is still more known for his time with the Cardinals, where he had three appearances. However, they were just that - appearances, not starts. He had his first start against them last spring, which was one he’d like to forget, allowing five runs on seven hits. So, perhaps the Yankees are more of an old foe than an old friend.

New York Yankees: Will Warren To End His Woes

The Giants starting a pitcher that didn’t look great against the Yankees last time out may make it seem obvious as to why New York is expected to win today, but they’re sending a second-year starter to the mound. That would be Will Warren, who had some growing pains when he was thrust into the spotlight last summer.

In five starts with the Yankees (he also had one relief appearance), Warren went 0-3 with a 10.32 ERA. One of those performances were even him allowing seven hits to the lowly Chicago White Sox of 2024, and to start this year, he has a 6.00 ERA. Facing his second NL West team in three starts, he’s looking to get on the right track.

Giants vs. Yankees Best Bet: New York First 5 Innings Money Line (Add Player Picks At Sleeper Fantasy)

That’s right, immediately following a game in which New York allowed five first inning runs, we’re going to be taking them to come out on top after the first five innings tonight for the best bet from our Giants vs. Yankees predictions. We fully understand why that may cause hesitation, but backing the Bronx Bombers early in games has been the way to go this season.

They’re the ones that have been getting off to hot starts, leading the entire MLB in runs per game in the first five innings by quite a bit - they’re one of just two teams with over four runs per game in that regard. Prior to last night’s game, the Giants were nearly only half of that.

We also want to focus on just the first half of the game for bullpen reasons, which likely shouldn’t take much convincing from the Yankees side of things. With Marcus Stroman pulled after just two-thirds of an inning, the New York bullpen was put to work early and often. On the flip side, the ‘pen has been arguably the best unit for the Giants so far this year.

They have the third-best ERA in that respect, so with those bullpen factors, it’s even more reason that we want to focus on just the first five innings being in New York’s favor, making the best bet from our Giants vs. Yankees predictions on New York’s first five money line (create a player pick ‘em lineup at Sleeper Fantasy as well).
