Franz Wagner amassed 13 points (6-of-15 FGs, 1-of-2 FTs), 13 rebounds, three assists, two steals and one blocked shot in 34 minutes in Tuesday’s win over the Hawks.
Wagner struggled with his shot on Tuesday but contributed in other ways as Orlando earned the seventh seed in the East. The 13 rebounds were the most he’s grabbed in a game this season, and the Magic wing only hit double figures in that category twice before Tuesday. Add in the assists and steals; all wasn’t lost for DFS players who slotted Wagner into their lineups. That said, Wagner will need to be much better if the Magic are to have any chance of knocking off the Celtics in the first round.
Wendell Carter Jr. logged 26 minutes in Tuesday’s win over the Hawks, tallying 19 points (8-of-12 FGs, 2-of-4 FTs), seven rebounds, two assists, two blocks and one three-pointer.
Carter was excellent on Tuesday, and the time off that comes with earning the seventh seed should benefit him. The Magic center rolled his right ankle during the first half and banged knees with a Hawks defender during the third quarter. The good news is that neither injury forced Carter out of Tuesday’s game immediately, and Orlando pulling away during the fourth quarter got him a little more time on the bench late. The Magic don’t play Boston in Game 1 of their first-round series until Sunday, which should help Carter regain strength.
Rhys Hoskins went 3-for-4 and blasted his first home run of the 2025 season on Tuesday night as the Brewers shut out the Tigers 5-0.
Hoskins opened the scoring in the ballgame as he hammered Jack Flaherty’s second pitch of the second inning for a 440-foot (107.3 mph EV) solo shot. He also added a pair of singles in the contest and struck out. The 32-year-old slugger is off to a slow start overall, slashing just .229/.345/.313 with just the one home run and six RBI on the season.
Sal Frelick went 1-for-3 with a triple and a stolen base as the Brewers rolled to an easy victory over the Tigers on Tuesday evening in Milwaukee.
Frelick smacked a triple down the first base line off of Jack Flaherty in the second inning and came in to score on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Garrett Mitchell. He then reached on a fielder’s choice in the sixth inning and swiped second base, but the Brewers couldn’t cash him in from there. On the season, the speedy 24-year-old outfielder is now hitting .306/.403/.403 with zero homers, five RBI and five stolen bases.
Yordan Alvarez went 1-for-4 with a solo homer in the Astros’ 2-0 win over the Cardinals on Tuesday.
Alvarez gave the Astros an insurance run in the eighth inning with a home run off Kyle Leahy to straightaway center field. It was the second home run of the season for the 27-year-old slugger as he’s been off to a relatively cold start. He’s slashing .224/.333/.362 with 10 RBI over 72 plate appearances.
Jackson Chourio drew a walk, stole a base and scored a run as the Brewers triumphed over the Tigers on Tuesday evening.
The 21-year-old superstar worked Jack Flaherty for a walk to start the home half of the first inning but was erased on a fielder’s choice. He then reached on an error in the seventh inning, stole second and scored on a fielder’s choice off the bat of William Contreras. The 21-year-old phenom is off to a nice start to his sophomore campaign, slashing .275/.280/.563 with five homers, 17 RBI and a pair of stolen bases.
