We figured to see some excitement this college football season as a result of both conference realignment and the newly-expanded 12-team playoff. What many didn’t expect to see is this many storylines by Week 10!

From players like Ashton Jeanty and Travis Hunter to teams like Alabama already having multiple losses (and, as it stands now, OUT of the college football playoff picture), it’s been a campaign filled with a bunch of uncertainty. Only 8 teams remain undefeated and a few of those are squads like Indiana and Army. Because of course they are.

All that being said, it’s safe to say we’re in store for a transcending last couple of months. What we’re here to do today is break down the college football landscape. We’ll discuss the most recent Top 25 rankings, upcoming matchups and the looming CFP.

So, if you plan on taking in the rest of the season, buckle up – it could be a wild ride!

Week 10 College Football Schedule & Marquee Games

We have a lot of sneaky good matchups this week despite only 2 ranked vs. ranked games taking place. We’ll start with those, though, as this Saturday is headlined by Ohio State vs. Penn State at Noon ET.

Later on that night, at 8 PM ET, the Pittsburgh Panthers will battle the SMU Mustangs. Aside from those contests, Oregon vs. Michigan (3:30 PM ET), Texas Tech vs. Iowa State (3:30 PM ET), Florida vs. Georgia (3:30 PM ET) and Texas A&M vs. South Carolina (7:30 PM ET) appear to be the top matchups.

Each of those games feature teams that are currently well-positioned to make a run at the CFP, but similarly, each of those games could see an upset take place.

College Football Playoff Picture: When Does CFP Rankings Start?

There will certainly be plenty of movement before things are all said and done, but we can still take a peek at how the college football playoff picture looks at the moment. As it stands, Oregon would be the 1 seed followed by Georgia, Miami (FL) and BYU as the 2, 3 and 4, respectively.

Those 4 teams would each have a first-round bye in the CFP. Penn State comes in at 5 and would face the 12-seed Boise State Broncos, while Ohio State is the 6-seed battling 11-seed Clemson. Tennessee and Notre Dame would make up the 8-9 game, and Texas (7 seed) vs. Texas A&M (10 seed) would round things out.

Of course, none of this is official, and won’t be until next week. The first edition of CFP rankings will be announced on Tuesday, November 5 between 7-8 PM ET. They will subsequently be released every following Tuesday leading up until Selection Sunday on December 8.
