It was a fun week that was last time out as the Week 9 college football slate certainly didn’t disappoint. And what’s even better for us is that we have another midweek slate to attack some more CFB predictions!

As the CFP picture continues to take shape, each game will obviously have more and more at stake. That said, let’s break down some midweek CFB best bets.

CFB Picks, Predictions & Best Bets: 10/29-11/1

I was a big fan of last week’s slate, and it did not treat me too kindly. I’m less bullish on the Week 10 games, so of course, this will be the week that all the CFB best bets hit!

I’ve usually done 5 CFB picks for these midweek articles, but this week, I’ve lowered it to 4. One of them, however, is a 2-unit wager, that being my Tulane vs. Charlotte prediction. I’ve also laid out my South Florida vs. Florida Atlantic prediction, plus a couple other CFB best bets for this bundle of matchups!

  • Season Record: 42-42-3
  • Units W/L: -2.8 Units

*All CFB predictions to be placed at 1 Unit unless otherwise specified. Be sure to follow me on X/Twitter @stevenw_hall!

Tulane vs. Charlotte Prediction: Thursday, October 31st

Whether it’s been their spread or game total, I’ve been riding Charlotte almost each and every week of my 2024 CFB best bets. And, unlike some other teams, they’ve actually come through more often than not. So, right back to the well we go as they get into a battle with a solid Tulane team.

I like both teams to put up points here as the defenses are flat-out dreadful, each ranking 80th or worse in the country in passing yards allowed per game. The Green Wave have also let up 33 points or more in 5 of their last 7 games, including 37 to North Texas a week ago. Charlotte is no North Texas in regard to scoring, but they’re good enough in this matchup to do some damage.

They’re averaging over 33 points per game the last 3 weeks and the fact that their passing offense is their best asset matches up well here. On the other side, I don’t think we have to worry too much about Tulane being able to score. Their 40.5 points per game is good for 8th in the country and they’ve put up less than that just once in their last 5 games.

This spread is a tricky one – I could see the game being close, Tulane dominating but Charlotte getting a late cover, or the Green Wave winning by 4+ possessions. No matter, points should be scored. And in bunches. I didn’t even mention the fact that the over is 11-5 combined for these squads this campaign, including 4-0 in North Texas road games and 3-0 in the 49ers last 3 overall.

South Florida vs. Florida Atlantic Prediction: Friday, November 1st

I’m taking a road favorite to cap off the midweek CFB best bets for Week 10, which is something I usually try to avoid. Here, though, the matchup is just too good. Neither of these teams are great at much of anything. But let’s take a look at what they do best.

South Florida runs better on offense than they pass, and similarly, their defense performs better against the run rather than the pass. Meanwhile, FAU struggles to move the ball through the air offensively and their defensive unit can’t stop the run.

So, we have one team that wants to run on offense against one that can’t stop the run, and the same thing on the other side, except against a defense that can stop the run. The Bulls, while still looking relatively ugly, have looked better than the Owls in recent weeks, as Florida Atlantic hasn’t beaten an FBS team since Week 3.

I’d be shocked if this were a route in either favor, but it’s hard to envision a scenario where the Owls come out on top. I’ll take USF with confidence.
