NFL DFS QB Coach Week 2: Top DraftKings & FanDuel Picks
Week 2 of the NFL season is here which means yet another week of NFL DFS preparation! The QB Coach last week was a hit with Jalen Hurts, Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert and Jameis Winston all putting out strong performances and our fade play of Aaron Rodgers was also the correct call!
This week the NFL main slate is just 12 games due to the primetime games so make sure you are checking out the NFL DFS player projections and NFL DFS lineup generator along with all of the NFL DFS content we have here at fantasy alarm when building your lineups for this week!

NFL DFS QB Top Plays
Russell Wilson, Denver Broncos
The Broncos offense was certainly frustrating to watch in Week 1 and while the final stat line for Wilson doesn't look all too bad with 340 yards passing and a touchdown while completing 69% of his throws, those who watched the game knows that Seattle defense gave them fits in the first half. Week 2 should bring about a much better opportunity for Wilson as he gets to play in front of his new home crowd against a Texans team that doesn't figure to be all that good defensively. In Week 1, Matt Ryan threw for 352 yards with a touchdown and an INT while completing 64% of his passes against this Texans defense. Wilson has much better receivers with Jerry Jeudy, Courtland Sutton and tight end Albert Okwuegbunam making plays in Week 1. My guess, Wilson is the highest rostered spend up QB on the main slate.
Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals
It was a slow start to Murray's Week 1 DFS production but he eventually got there for those who rostered him, finishing with 193 yards and two touchdowns while adding five carries for 29 yards in a blowout loss to the Chiefs. Murray draws yet another matchup against an AFC West team, this time the Las Vegas Raiders. In Week 1 the Raiders fell to the Los Angeles Chargers and Justin Herbert finished with 279 yards and three touchdowns while completing 76.5% of his throws. If Rondale Moore is able to suit up this week he will add another weapon for Murray to target in this matchup other than Marquise Brown and Zach Ertz that fantasy players can be excited about.
Tom Brady, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
It wasn't a great Week 1 for Brady and the Buccaneers offense as they managed just one touchdown against a tough Dallas defense. In Week 2 they draw a bit more favorable matchup against a Saints defense that at times struggled to stop Marcus Mariota and the Falcons offense in Week 1. While Chris Godwin is once again dealing with an injury, the Buccaneers are still loaded with receiving talent thanks to Mike Evans, Julio Jones and Russell Gage being on the roster. I look for Brady to be ready to go for a more impressive Week 2 performance.
NFL DFS QB Mid-Price Plays
Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams
Stafford and the Rams offense looked rough to kick off the season as they ran into a buzzsaw that was the Buffalo Bills defense. In the game Stafford finished with 240 yards with one touchdowns and three interceptions. The Rams offense had many people questioning the strategy following the team's Week 1 loss, largely due to the lack of involvement of Allen Robinson. In Week 2 the Rams have yet another home matchup and this time it is against the Atlanta Falcons. Atlanta held strong against the Saints for as long as they could but eventually Jameis Winston, Michael Thomas and Jarvis Landry really got it going. I'm fully expecting a bounce back game here from the defending super bowl champions.
Derek Carr, Las Vegas Raiders
It wasn't the greatest Week 1 performance from Carr as he completed just 59% of his passes for 295 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions. In Week 2 the Raiders have a home matchup against a Cardinals defense that just allowed five passing touchdowns to Patrick Mahomes. Davante Adams was uncoverable in Week 1 and he and Carr should continue to have great chemistry in this matchup. The interesting battle will be between tight end Darrell Waller and lineback Isaiah Simmons. Simmons has been one of the leagues top cover linebacker since entering the league but Travis Kelce torched him in Week 1. If Darren Waller can find similar success then Carr could be in for quite a day throwing the football.
Carson Wentz, Washington Commanders
Wentz looked fantastic in his season debut for the Commanders, completing 66% of his passes for 313 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions. He did all of that with Terry McLaurin largely being a non-factor in the team's offense against the Jaguars. In Week 2 the Commanders are on the road against a Lions team that could not stop the Eagles offense and allowed AJ Brown to go for 10 catches and 155 yards. The Commanders offense is healthy with Logan Thomas and Curtis Samuel playing roles in the team's Week 1 win after both missed the majority of last season. Rookie Jahan Dotson had two touchdown receptions and running back Antonio Gibson also had seven catches. Wentz is my favorite of the QB's in this price range and will be a good pivot off of Matthew Stafford who is likely the higher owned of this tier.
NFL DFS QB Value Plays
Jameis Winston, New Orleans Saints
I know the matchup isn't perfect as they run up against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but boy did that passing offense look good once they finally go a rhythm. Michael Thomas finished with five catches for 57 yards and a touchdown while Jarvis Landry added seven receptions for 114 yards. Winston finished with 269 yards and two touchdowns, most of which came in the second half of the football game. Of course, there is also the revenge narrative in play here with Winston facing the team that cast him off so they could go out and sign Tom Brady.
Matt Ryan, Indianapolis Colts
The Colts offense could have been better against the Texans but they had some trouble converting when in the red zone. I think that issue gets resolved in Week 2 when they face a Jaguars team that just allowed Carson Wentz to carve them up. Now, I know Jonathan Taylor is the show to see in Indy and there is a real good chance that Ryan is low rostered because of how highly rostered Taylor will be in this spot but at this price tag all we need is 250 and two touchdowns to pay off the price tag and I think that is well within his range of outcomes in this matchup.
NFL DFS QB Dart Throw
Trey Lance, San Francisco 49ers
Let's be real. He is always the dart throw play. Lance has the elite rushing upside and the receivers on the roster to make things happen for him in the passing game. Hopefully there will be better weather for Lance to play in this week unlike the high winds and rain that he had to deal with in Week 1 against the Bears. Seattle is going to be on the road and coming off that big win over the Broncos and I think they could find themselves falling back to earth in this matchup.
NFL DFS QB Fades
Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals
Going on the road in Dallas. The Bengals are actually big favorites in this game with Dak Prescott injured. The Cowboys defense is pretty solid against the pass due to their secondary and pass rush. They limited Tom Brady to just 212 yards and a touchdown with one interception and they sacked him twice. What did in the Dallas defense was Leonard Fournette as he ran for over 120 yards against them. If Tee Higgins misses this game due to the concussion he suffered in Week 1 then we could see the Bengals lean a bit more on the run and while Burrow is talented enough to go off in any game. This is a fade spot for me.
