Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Report November 14th

Published: Nov 14, 2021
Welcome to the Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Report! The waiver wire is key to winning. It helps you improve on the team you drafted, and to help patch holes when players go down due to injury. It’s something most managers will monitor daily. Let’s take a look at who we should be adding this week.
Ondrej Kase- Toronto Maple Leafs - Winger
Ondrej Kase was moved to the top line with Auston Matthews and William Nylander, and so far, it’s worked out very nicely for him. The former Bruin has three goals in the last three games and seems to have found some instant chemistry with his new linemates. If he can continue to produce, Kase will hold that top line spot and never look back. He’s a must add right now considering his tremendously high upside.
Jordan Eberle - Seattle Kraken- Winger
I know we’ve already talked about Jordan Eberle in a previous waiver wire report, but clearly no one was listening. The veteran winger has seven goals and two assists in the last two weeks, and yet, he’s only 36% owned in Yahoo! leagues. This is your last chance to claim him before it’s too late. The Kraken aren’t very good, which means Eberle is going to be on the ice a lot trying to score goals. Game script most nights will be in his favour, which is something that will continue to allow him to keep his production high. I’m not going to repeat myself so listen closely; add Jordan Eberle before you can’t no more!
Ryan Getzlaf - Anaheim Ducks - Center
With the Anaheim Ducks being good, Ryan Getzlaf has once again become fantasy relevant. The captain has 15 points this season, and while he only has one goal, he’s still doing enough to be on a points only fantasy team. The veteran is going to slow down at some point, but right now, he’s a great addition to a fantasy team that needs some consistency when it comes to racking up the points.
Cayden Primeau - Montreal Canadiens - Goaltender
Jake Allen left Saturday’s start due to an upper-body injury, and we don’t know how long he might be out of the lineup. Sam Montembeault came in to take over, and while he did start off shaky, he was able to do enough to let Montreal get back into the game. That being said, he’s not a good goalie, and if Allen were to miss a significant amount of time, and Carey Price nowhere ready to return, someone is going to have to step and lead the team. In comes Cayden Primeau, who could do that short-term and help fantasy owners who need a goalie. It’s a risky add, and he may not even play, but Primeau is the goalie to own if Allen can’t play, period.
Ben Chiarot - Montreal Canadiens - Defence
I have no idea when Ben Chariot decided to become good, but here we are. We know that it’s a contract year for him, and he’s doing his best to make sure he can get paid at the end of the season. His four goals this season is what has everyone turning their heads. We know he can hit and block shots, but adding any offence to his game makes him a real solid fantasy hockey player. In category leagues, he’s a player you can grab for nothing and that can be in your lineup every night. He’s not going to maintain this pace all year, but for now, he’s doing enough to earn a roster spot on any team.
Player News
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde told reporters that Zach Eflin (lat) is likely to return and start Sunday against the Angels
It was assumed that Eflin would be back this weekend, but now we have a concrete date. The 31-year-old may not be at full strength after throwing fewer than 60 pitches in his rehab start, but the Orioles feel confident enough to have the right-hander back on the bump for the series finale against the Angels.
Riley Greene is not in the lineup for the first game of a doubleheader against the Rockies on Thursday.
Greene will get a break and likely return to the lineup for the second game of the twin-billing. Zach McKinstry will get the start in left field while Greene rests.
Panthers released TE Jordan Matthews.
Matthews converted to tight end a few years ago and hasn’t made much noise at the position. The change has, however, likely kept him in the league for a few more seasons. He appeared in four games with the Panthers last year but didn’t record any stats on offense. The Panthers also released or waived WR Dax Milne, C Andrew Raym, and TE Colin Granger.
Yu Darvish (elbow) is facing live hitters on Thursday.
Darvish has been throwing bullpen sessions and traveled to the team’s complex in Arizona to face live hitters on Thursday. It will be his first time facing live batters since a spring training appearance on March 13th. He will likely need a few sessions like this before the Padres can map out a rehab appearance timeline for him.
Adael Amador is starting at second base and batting ninth for the Rockies on Thursday.
Amador has now started three of the last four games at second base for the Rockies. He’s gone just 7-for-43 this season with 15 strikeouts in 16 games. He’s just 22 years old, so there is plenty of time for him to adjust to the MLB level, but he doesn’t need to be on redraft radars right now.
Jackson Holliday is playing second base and batting second for the Orioles on Thursday against the Twins.
With Cedric Mullins sitting out on Thursday, Gunnar Henderson will bat lead off, and Holliday will jump up from sixth in the order to second. Holliday is riding a hot streak right now, and the Orioles are taking advantage. This is likely just a one-game sample with no Mullins or Adley Rutschman in the lineup, but Rutschman has been struggling, so perhaps it could become a more permanent spot in the lineup for Holliday moving forward.
