Royals recalled RHP Jonathan Bowlan from Triple-A Omaha.
Bowlan was already with the team, serving as the 27th man for Thursday’s twin bill against the Rockies, but he’ll stick around in the team’s bullpen with Evan Sisk getting optioned to Triple-A. The 28-year-old hurler has posted a 3.00 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and a 12/5 K/BB ratio across 12 frames at Omaha this season.
Isaac Paredes went 2-for-4 with a solo home run against the Royals on Tuesday.
Paredes’ home run was his fifth of the season. He pulled an 82 mph middle-away sweeper into the left field seats for a walkoff home run. Paredes continues to be a good fit for the Astros’ home ballpark. He’s hitting .265 with 18 RBI and an .805 OPS on the season.
Jeremy Pena went 2-for-4 with a solo home run against the Royals on Tuesday.
Kris Bubic allowed one run in 6 1/3 innings and got a no-decision against the Astros on Tuesday.
Framber Valdez allowed one run in eight innings and got a no-decision in the Astros’ 2-1 victory over the Royals on Tuesday.
Javier Báez clobbered a pair of three-run home runs on Tuesday night, including a walk-off blast in the 11th inning that propelled the Tigers to a wild 10-9 victory over the visiting Red Sox.
The versatile 32-year-old drew a walk in the third inning and scored the Tigers’ second run on a pickoff error by catcher Carlos Narvaez. He then turned a 4-3 deficit into a 6-4 advantage with a two-out, 392-foot (106.0 mph EV) three-run shot off of Garrett Whitlock in the sixth inning. He then strolled to the dish with two men on in the 11th inning after the Red Sox had just taken a two-run lead and he ambushed a first-pitch sweeper from Greg Weissert for a 371-foot (99.4 mph EV) game-winning blast. The unexpected resurgence of Báez has been one of the more fun storylines of the 2025 season thus far. He’s slashing an outstanding .319/.357/.513 with five homers and 27 RBI on the year.
Spencer Torkelson clubbed his 11th home run of the season, walked twice and scored a pair of runs on Tuesday as the Tigers triumphed over the Red Sox.
Torkelson led off the fourth inning with a 353-foot (99.8 mph EV) solo shot off of Brayan Bello that gave the Tigers a 3-2 lead. He also led off the sixth inning with a walk and rode home on a three-run blast by Javier Báez. On the season, the 25-year-old slugger is now hitting .240/.344/.526 with the aforementioned 11 long balls and 34 RBI on the season.
