Agustín Ramírez is out of the Marlins lineup Wednesday after going 5-for-6 in his first two games as a major leaguer.
The Marlins decided against DHing Ramírez in a day game after a night game as a way of keeping his bat in the lineup. They have Eric Wagaman at first base and Matt Mervis DHing today. Laim Hicks is doing the catching.
Dodgers recalled RHP J.P. Feyereisen from Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Feyereisen provides the Dodgers with some additional bullpen depth over the next few days with rookie Roki Sasaki hitting the injured list with a shoulder impingement. The 32-year-old righty has made three relief appearances this season between the Dodgers and Diamondbacks.
Dodgers placed RHP Roki Sasaski on the 15-day injured list with a right shoulder impingement.
The decision comes just a few hours after Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters Sasaki reported arm soreness following his previous start last Friday against the Diamondbacks. The 23-year-old top pitching prospect’s fastball velocity has been down in recent outings and he’s struggled to a bloated 4.72 ERA and lackluster 15.6 percent strikeout rate through eight starts in his big-league debut. It’s not the worst idea for Los Angeles to give him some extra time out of the spotlight to get back to 100 percent physically and work on things. There is no timetable for his potential return at this juncture, but there should be some clarity on his status at some point this week.
Pirates RHP prospect Bubba Chandler recorded eight strikeouts over five scoreless innings on Tuesday for Triple-A Indianapolis.
It’s time. Chandler lowered his ERA to a microscopic 1.91 mark with five shutout frames as he continues to look like the best pitching prospect in baseball. The hard-throwing 22-year-old righty is up to 49 punchouts over 33 innings (eight starts) this season at the Triple-A level. It’s time to see how Chandler fares in the big leagues since he seemingly has very little left to prove in the minors. He’s one of the few prospects left in the minors that fantasy managers should be stashing, even in shallow mixed leagues.
Jackson Chourio went 2-for-4 with a double and two stolen bases against the Guardians on Tuesday.
Chourio added two hits and two steals to his season line Tuesday, giving him a total of eight stolen bases on the season. The 21-year-old right fielder had two of the three hits the Brewers had as a team as the club went scoreless against the Guardians. Chourio is hitting .265 with a .753 OPS so far in his second full season in the major leagues.
Jose Ramirez went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a solo home run against the Brewers on Tuesday.
Quinn Priester allowed one run in five innings and took the loss against the Guardians on Tuesday.
