Alex Nylander

The deal carries an average annual value of $750,000 at the NHL level. Nylander notched 14 goals and 30 points in 44 games for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL in 2021-22 after he was acquired from Chicago. 

Nylander was dealt to the Penguins on Jan. 5 and has spent the last two weeks with the Baby Pens, where he has four goals and eight points in eight games. He may be able to show his stuff at the NHL level if he continues to play well in the AHL.

Nylander was dealt by Chicago to Pittsburgh on Wednesday in exchange for Sam Lafferty and was playing his first game Friday for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton where he set up two goals in a 6-5 shootout road loss to Utica. Nylander, who was selected eighth overall in 2016 by Buffalo but has never established himself in the NHL, had eight goals and 12 points in 23 games with Rockford of the AHL before the trade this season. He has played in 84 games in the NHL in his career, scoring 13 times and adding 19 assists.

Nylander has eight goals and 12 points in 23 games with Rockford of the AHL this season. In 84 career NHL appearances, the 23-year-old forward has 13 goals and 32 points. He will report to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL.
