Boston GM Don Sweeney has confirmed that he has been talking contract with David Krejci for next season.
“His decision could be forthcoming," said Sweeney. "We’re hopeful it’s with us." Krejci spent the 2021-22 season playing in Czechia. The 36-year-old forward has played for the Boston Bruins for all 962 of the games in his NHL career.
A report out of Boston has David Krejci in negotiations with the Bruins to return after a one-year absence.
Krejci returned home to Czechia and had 20 goals and 46 points in 51 games as well as playing in the Olympics in 2022 but it appears that the lure of the Bruins will bring the 36-year-old back to the NHL for at least one more season. Stay tuned.
Boston GM Don Sweeney said Wednesday that the team has been in touch with David Krejci.
Krejci produced 20 goals and 46 points in 51 games for HC Olomouc of the Czech Extraliga during the 2021-22 season. "I’ve been in touch with David and [his team]…[he] spent a lot of time with his family deciding what he'd like to do," Sweeney said. "The conversations have gone well. It’s just a matter of when David decides, ultimately, and if we’re gonna be the place that he chooses."
David Krejci won't be an option for the Boston Bruins, according to GM Don Sweeney.
More accurately, Krejci won't be available for any team because he has decided to stay home with his family. This decision shouldn't come as a surprise because it was the driving force behind his decision to play in Czechia in the first place.
