Carl Hagelin (eye) is optimistic that he can play in the NHL again.
Hagelin said that "choroid in left eye ruptured during freak accident in practice when a stick hit him right in the eyeball," on March 1. He has had a pair of surgeries to repair the damage and while he said that he knows his eye will never again be 100 percent, he wants to continue his NHL career. Stay tuned.
Carl Hagelin (eye) skated on Sunday and he remains out indefinitely.
Hagelin skated on his own in a sweatsuit early in the postseason and he progressed to wearing pads on Sunday when he took to the ice with strength and conditioning coach Mark Nemish. It remains uncertain when he will be an option for the Capitals.
Coach Peter Laviolette provided an update on the status of Carl Hagelin (eye) on Friday.
"Spirits are good, he’s doing good. Still down a long road to recovery, but I see him in there once in a while," said Laviolette. "... I don’t know the exact details of it, but he’s got more work to do." Hagelin hasn't played since Feb. 28 because of an eye injury.
Carl Hagelin (eye) has been moved to long-term injured reserve.
Hagelin is out indefinitely with an eye injury that he suffered during Tuesday's practice. Washington also put Joe Snively (upper body) on injured reserve Thursday, while activating Anthony Mantha (shoulder) from LTIR.
