Eagles acquired QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson and a 2025 fifth-round pick from the Browns in exchange for Kenny Pickett.
Stylistically, Thompson-Robinson is a slightly better fit in the Eagles’ offense, which relies heavily on Jalen Hurts’ mobility. The former fifth-round pick has struggled in his first two seasons as a pro, throwing for a forgettable 880-1-10 in 15 career games while adding another 35-187-0 on the ground. DTR will have a chance to compete with Tanner McKee for the Eagles’ QB2 job, and should be considered the underdog in the camp battle after McKee impressed in limited action last season.
Dorian Thompson-Robinson (calf) was limited in Tuesday’s practice.
That’s a better start than he had last week, but with Browns coach Kevin Stefanski saying that it’s possible he splits time with Bailey Zappe on Saturday, Thompson-Robinson is probably someone to avoid in Week 18. At least until we get more clarity from Stefanski on what the situation looks like.
Dorian Thompson-Robinson completed 24-of-47 passes for 170 yards and one interception, rushed four times for 10 yards and lost one fumble in the Browns’ 3-20, Week 17 loss to the Dolphins.
Jerry Jeudy committed at least two costly drops but he can only take so much blame for Thompson-Robinson’s 23 incompletions. Thompson-Robinson is simply not a qualified starter, averaging just 3.7 yards per passing attempt over the last three weeks. Thompson-Robinson’s fumble occurred on a textbook strip-sack from Emmanuel Ogbah. The Browns’ fill-in starter should not be in fantasy lineups against the Ravens in Week 18.
Browns OC Ken Dorsey said Dorian Thompson-Robinson will start in Week 17 against the Dolphins.
DTR suffered a calf injury on the opening drive of the Browns’ Week 16 loss to the Bengals and was listed as limited in Wednesday’s practice. Despite this injury, he appears to be trending in the right direction, with Dorsey already confirming him as the team’s Week 17 starter with one more practice left to go in the week. Those still stashing Jameis Winston or one of several Browns receivers in hopes of Winston returning as the starter appear to be out of luck. It’s still early enough for something to change, but DTR appears locked in as the starter barring an unexpected development.
