Kenneth Walker III rushed 16 times for 38 yards and two touchdowns in the Seahawks’ Week 3 win over the Saints, adding one reception for 12 yards.
In three games this season, the Seahawks have had four instances where a running back totals double-digit carry counts while averaging less than 3.0 yards per carry. Walker accounts for two such instances. To be fair to him, Walker had a 20-yard run called back due to holding today and he averaged 8.1 yards per carry just last week, but Seahawks OC Klint Kubiak must identify and correct his ground game’s consistency issues. Walker remains RB2-viable against the Cardinals next week. Zach Charbonnet (foot) missed practice all week, but was able to participate in an extensive pre-game warmup today. He faces a short turnaround in Week 4, with the NFC West showdown taking place on Thursday night.
Seahawks OC Klint Kubiak said the team has to “keep finding ways to get” both Zach Charbonnet and Kenneth Walker III involved, adding “I see two starters.”
This is in addition to Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald saying that the plan is for each back to have “ample opportunity” on a weekly basis. Walker will make for a nice fantasy play in Week 3 if Charbonnet is ruled out after missing the first two practices of the week, but it seems like this will be a weekly guessing game for fantasy managers going forward when both are healthy.
Ken Walker had 13 rushes for 105 yards and a touchdown in the Seahawks’ Week 2 win against the Steelers, adding one catch for 13 yards.
Walker saw 13 carries while Zach Charbonnet handled 15 rushing attempts for the run-heavy Seattle offense. Walker made the most of his chances, averaging 8.1 yards per carry and scoring a short touchdown in the fourth quarter to put the game away against a sleepy Pittsburgh defense. Walker ran tough throughout, bouncing off would-be tacklers and carrying defenders on a few first half carries. Walker logged six pass routes on the day to 14 for Charbonnet. Walker, who was held to 20 yards in Week 1, should be considered a top-20 fantasy option next week against a lowly Saints defense.
Kenneth Walker III rushed 10 times for 20 yards in the Seahawks’ Week 1 loss to the 49ers, adding three receptions for four yards.
The 49ers’ defense deserves credit, but Walker was simply outplayed by backfield-mate Zach Charbonnet. Walker was on the field for the Seahawks’ first drive. Charbonnet was featured on the second. Curiously, Walker out-targeted Charbonnet three-to-zero, but it was Charbonnet who was on-field for the majority of the Seahawks’ final drive, as Seattle’s two-minute offense attempted to generate a comeback. Walker subbed in once the unit entered the red zone but a fumble lost by Sam Darnold ended that brief sequence unceremoniously. Ultimately, Walker totaled just 21 offensive snaps to Charbonnet’s 30. Walker is best viewed as an RB3/FLEX option against the Steelers next week.
