2024 Player Outlook

The Panthers paid Miles Sanders a good chunk of change in free agency last offseason which made it that much more surprising that Chuba Hubbard beat him out for that starting job. Sanders did deal with some injury issues but he managed to appear in 16 games still. Yet Hubbard still beat him out in virtually every stat from carries and targets to receptions, yards, and touchdowns. Following the nightmare 2023 season, the Panthers fired their entire front office and brought in a new regime in 2024 who promptly turned around and took the first RB off the board of the 2024 NFL Draft in the second round with Jonathan Brooks. Brooks is coming off an ACL injury and could start slow which leaves the door open for Chuba to potentially hang onto a role. And who knows - rookies don't always pan out so maybe Brooks will start slow himself this season.

Bills signed WR Elijah Moore, formerly of the Browns, to a one-year contract.

Cleveland placed the rarely-used free agent tender on Moore earlier this week, allowing the Browns to potentially net a compensatory pick if he signed elsewhere. Moore’s visit with the Bills proved fruitful and he will now play for “up to” $5 million. Moore struggled to find his footing after the Jets traded him to Cleveland and he went for a measly 538 yards in 2024. He will now get another chance to reset things in Buffalo, but Moore is far from a guarantee for playing time with the Bills.

ESPN’s Field Yates reports Browns placed the unrestricted free agent tender on WR Elijah Moore.

Moore visited the Bills on Monday and then saw the Browns place the unrestricted free agent tender on him. Per Field Yates, this means that Moore will count against the compensatory free agent formula should he sign with another team. He’ll play on the tender if he returns to the Browns, which carries a value of $3.428 million for wide receivers in 2025.

FOX Sports’ Jordan Schultz reports free agent WR Elijah Moore is visiting with the Bills.

Moore, 25, caught a career-high 61 passes last season and finished second on the Browns with 538 receiving yards. The former second-round pick would likely be viewed more as a role player if he did sign with the Bills, as Keon Coleman, Khalil Shakir, and Joshua Palmer are expected to see the majority of snaps in three receiver sets. Moore is a talented receiver who could provide solid depth to a strong receiving corps, but it’d be hard to envision him being any kind of a difference-maker.

Elijah Moore caught 3-of-5 targets for 36 yards in the Browns’ Week 18 loss to the Ravens.

Moore saw a few weeks of plus production in the middle of the season while Jameis Winston started under center but otherwise finishes 2024 with pedestrian counting stats. The soon-to-be unrestricted free agent ends the season with 61 catches for 538 yards and one touchdown and is likely to find himself playing for a different franchise in the coming year with the Browns almost assuredly set up for a full rebuild this offseason.
