Jaylen Waddle caught 5-of-6 targets for 39 yards and a touchdown in the Dolphins’ Week 3 loss to the Bills.
Fantasy managers will take Waddle’s second touchdown in as many weeks, though he’s now been held under 40 yards receiving in 2-of-3 appearances. Waddle has yet to command more than six targets in a game. Disappointing, especially since the Dolphins’ offense has become so horizontal. Coach Mike McDaniel and Tua Tagovailoa have a strikingly difficult time getting the ball to their No. 2 wideout despite his underneath skill-set. Struggling to rise above middling WR3 status, Waddle faces the Jets in Week 4.
Dolphins WR Jaylen Waddle (shoulder) said that he will play in Week 3 against the Bills.
The Dolphins are 12.0-point road underdogs, signaling a likely pass-heavy game script for Miami. Although we would prefer that the Dolphins score touchdowns in bunches, a tilted game script that features their speedy pass catchers will suffice. Waddle is a borderline WR2/3 for this week’s Thursday Night Football game.
Dolphins WR Jaylen Waddle (shoulder) is “expected” to play in Week 3 against the Bills and “be a big factor.”
NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe, ever the optimistic reporter, said there is “not much doubt” about Waddle’s availability despite being questionable with a “minor shoulder injury.” We expect Waddle to play in a likely pass-heavy effort against the Bills this evening, although he has been expected to be a big factor in the Dolphins’ offense for quite some time now, yet he has just 11 targets through two games. Waddle is best treated as a borderline WR2/3 in what should be a favorable game script.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports the Dolphins “hope” Jaylen Waddle (shoulder) is able to play in Week 2 against the Bills.
Waddle will test out his shoulder in warmups before being clear for action. He briefly left the Dolphins’ Week 2 loss to the Patriots to be checked out by trainers but returned to the game and wasn’t listed on Monday’s injury report. He was then added as a limited participant on Tuesday and Wednesday. It sounds like the Dolphins are just being cautious with a receiver known for laboring through injuries, but fantasy managers will want to check Miami’s inactives 90 minutes before kickoff to be sure. If Wadle can’t suit up, second-year wideout Malik Washington would be in line for No. 2 receiver duties.
