Devin Singletary rushed three times for nine yards in the Giants’ Week 1 loss to the Commanders.
Singletary saw one more carry than rookie Cam Skattebo, but totaled 12 more yards on the ground. The veteran back isn’t expected to make much of an impact in the Giants’ backfield this season, but the underwhelming performances by Tyrone Tracy (10-24-0) and Skattebo, who lost three yards on two carries, should leave things wide open in this backfield. There’s no reason to stash Singletary at this time, but he’s a player to keep in mind as we wait to see how this backfield performs in the coming weeks.
Devin Singletary rushed seven times for 22 yards in the Giants’ Week 18 loss to the Eagles.
Singletary also caught one pass for a five-yard loss. The six-year vet opened the season as the Giants’ starter after signing a three-year, $16.5 million contract this offseason but proved to be anything but an adequate replacement for Saquon Barkley. A groin injury suffered in Week 4 sidelined Singletary for two weeks, but that proved to be more than enough time for rookie fifth-rounder Tyrone Tracy to take his place at the top of the running back depth chart. From Weeks 7-18, Singletary rushed just 57 times for 216 yards and two scores while catching 10 balls for 52 scoreless yards. The Giants would incur a $6 million cap hit if they were to release Singletary this offseason, which is his best path to any future fantasy success. At just 27 years old, he could have some viability in the right situation, which doesn’t appear to be in New York.
Devin Singletary had eight rushes for 25 yards in the Giants’ Week 15 loss against the Ravens, adding three catches for 16 yards.
Singletary tied Tyrone Tracy with 11 touches and converted an inside-the-five carry into a first half touchdown in the team’s blowout loss to Baltimore. Singletary continues to split the backfield workload despite proving less efficient than his rookie backfield mate. Singletary will only be fantasy relevant if Tracy misses time in the season’s final few weeks.
Devin Singletary ran seven times for 23 yards in the Giants’ Week 13 loss to the Cowboys.
Singletary also had one target that wasn’t caught. He ended up receiving just two touches less than Tyrone Tracy in the contest (9 carries for 32 yards), but neither was effective against the Dallas front seven. Singletary will remain off the fantasy radar against the Saints for Week 14.
