2024 Player Outlook
Allen finished the 2023 fantasy football season as the QB1, throwing for 4,306 yards with 29 touchdowns and 18 interceptions while adding 524 yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground. 2024 will be a true test as the team traded away Stefon Diggs and did little to improve the passing offense outside of drafting wide receiver Keon Coleman in the second round and signing Curtis Samuel in free agency. If Allen has any regression this season with his rushing touchdowns he could fall down the QB rankings as the lack of receiving weapons is a real concern.

Bills signed Josh Allen to a six-year, $330 million contract.
Allen’s contract includes a record-setting $250 million guaranteed. With four years still on his deal, the Bills choose to get ahead of the curve and give Allen the highest-paying guaranteed contract in the league, exceeding Deshaun Watson’s guarantees by a total of $20 million. The reigning NFL MVP is now signed through 2030, with his annual average of $55 million exceeding his rivals Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson, while meeting Joe Burrow’s. Allen is tied for second-highest annual average in the league, while having the highest total value and guaranteed money on his deal.
Josh Allen was named the 2024 Associated Press Most Valuable Player.
It’s one of the closer MVP votes you’ll see, as Allen narrowly defeated Lamar Jackson with 27 first-place votes and 383 possible points and Jackson receiving 23 first-place nods and 362 points. Saquon Barkley finished third. Allen threw for 3,731 yards with 28 passing touchdowns and also rushed for a dozen scores with 531 yards on the ground. Jackson was also spectacular, but the fact that he had already won the award twice likely played a factor in the decision.
Josh Allen said he suffered a wrist injury in Sunday’s AFC Championship Game loss to the Chiefs.
Allen said his wrist “got scrunched up a little bit” but said he was working through some swelling on Monday. Despite this, the Bills’ QB1 also said he doesn’t anticipate any offseason surgeries, so it sounds like some time off will be all he needs to fully recover from this injury. Allen said he is unsure about participating in the Pro Bowl games due to his injury.
Josh Allen completed 22-of-34 passes for 237 yards and two touchdowns in Buffalo’s 29-32, AFC Championship Game loss to the Chiefs, adding 11 carries for 39 yards on the ground.
Allen was stuffed short of the line to gain on three separate quarterback sneaks, one of them a controversial near-make that instant replay in this era is simply not equipped to overturn without making referees look bad. That is the most in a game since at least 2016 (when NFL Next Gen Stats started being able to keep track), and it was a main reason the Bills weren’t able to keep up. After a dismal first drive where Allen nearly threw two interceptions, he bounced back in a big way. His 34-yard touchdown pass to Mack Hollins with 23 seconds left in the half kept the Bills in striking distance, he tied the game with a four-yarder on fourth-and-goal at the 4 to a wide-open Samuel after Hollins split the safeties again for 32 more yards. But on the biggest down of the game, fourth-and-5 from the Buffalo 47 down three at the two-minute warning, the Chiefs found two free rushers. Allen was able to get the ball in the area of Dalton Kincaid, but Kincaid dropped it and the Bills turned it over to the Chiefs. Allen finished the regular season second behind Lamar Jackson with 22.6 fantasy points per game, but it was a distant second. His yardage total dwindled from 4306 to 3731 as the Bills adopted a run-heavy approach, but he also had his first year under 10 interceptions since 2019 and added 12 rushing touchdowns despite James Cook’s breakout season. He’ll remain an easy top-2 quarterback pick in fantasy leagues in 2025.
