Daryl Smith
Player News
Daryl Smith did not practice Wednesday.
No injury has been announced, so it could just be a rest day for the 12 year veteran. He was brought in from Baltimore and will look to provide some leadership to a young linebacking corps.
Daryl Smith will likely open the season as a starting linebacker for the Buccaneers.
Smith spent the last three seasons playing for the Ravens where he averaged over 120 tackles per season so it would make sense that with those kind of numbers he would be among the Bucs starting linebacker group.
Tampa Bay has signed Baltimore Ravens unrestricted free agent Daryl Smith to a one-year deal.
Tampa Bay continues to add talent for 2016. After the Ravens released linebacker Daryl Smith to save cap space, the Buccaneers have signed him to a 1-year deal. In 2016, Smith recorded 121 tackles with three sacks and an interception while playing in all 16 games for Baltimore. He has at least 97 tackles in six of the last seven seasons. Smith will look to strengthen an already strong linebacker unit in Tampa Bay.
Daryl Smith will sign with the Buccaneers.
The 34-year-old linebacker is still playing at an insanely high level as evident by the 121 tackles he accumulated last season. It's getting close to the end of the road for Smith, but he got paid and will have a starting job in 2016. The Buccaneers are hopeful they can compete for a playoff spot next season.
