Player News
49ers DL Ziggy Ansah (torn bicep) was placed on season-ending injured reserve.
Coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed as much after Ansah exited following 21 snaps on Sunday night. Ansah finishes with just two games with the Niners under his belt, suffering the same fate as Nick Bosa (torn ACL) and numerous others for a San Francisco front-seven that's been ravaged by injuries this year.
49ers DL Ziggy Ansah (arm) won't return for Week 4 against the Eagles.
Ansah played on 21 snaps in Week 3 but did not record a tackle or any other statistic. Still, for a 49ers front-seven that has been ravaged by injuries this year, the loss of Ansah will be felt. The team is already without Solomon Thomas and Nick Bosa on IR with knee injuries.
49ers signed DE Ziggy Ansah to a one-year contract.
It took three workouts, but Fowler reports the team will (finally) finalize a one-year deal with the 31-year-old veteran. One can only assume the litany of injuries to Nick Bosa (torn ACL), Solomon Thomas (knee), and Dee Ford on Sunday pressed the issue, getting Ansah in-house immediately. He's totaled 50.5 career sacks across seven seasons.
DL Ziggy Ansah is expected to visit with the 49ers for a third time and sign with the team.
The seven-year veteran has worked out with the Niners twice, mostly recently after Week 1. The 49ers -- who on Sunday lost defensive linemen Nick Bosa and Solomon Thomas to injuries -- are desperate for defensive line help. The team is expected to activate DE Dion Jordan from the practice squad this week. We could see Ansah suit up for the Niners in their Week 3 game against the Giants.
