Trevor Davis

Davis is a journeyman kick and punt returner who should find his way onto a team's practice squad before the long. The Falcons also waived/released CB Delrick Abrams, DL Eli Ankou, OL Willie Beavers, DL Zac Dawe, ILB Emmanuel Ellerbee, RB D'Onta Foreman, WR Juwan Green, RB Caleb Huntley, S Dwayne Johnson, OLB Kobe Jones, OL Sam Jones, P Dom Maggio, OL Ryan Neuzil, WR Antonio Nunn, S JR Pace, TE John Raine, WR Chris Rowland, OL Joe Sculthorpe, OLB Tuzar Skipper, DL Chris Slayton, OL Kion Smith, ILB Erroll Thompson, TE David Wells, and CB Chris Williamson.

The Dolphins took a shot on Davis following his mid-season release from Las Vegas and he responded with four kick returns for 95 yards (23.7 yards per return) from Week 15 on. It's possible the 26-year-old gets an extended look out wide since Chicago only added fifth-round WR Darnell Mooney at that position via free agency and the draft. It's a low-risk signing to strengthen the Bears' special teams.

Davis wasn't targeted during his three-game stint with Miami in 2019, though he did contribute as a kick and punt returner. The return specialist is an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

The Dolphins claimed Davis off waivers from Oakland on Tuesday, so he may not yet be acclimated to his new team's playbook. When fully up to speed, Davis could immediately contribute as a punt returner and depth wideout in Miami.
