Jaguars DL Lerentee McCray has opted out of the 2020 season.
McCray becomes the second Jacksonville player to opt out. In a statement, he cited concerns about his family's health. McCray played nine games for Jacksonville last season.
Jaguars re-signed LB Lerentee McCray.
McCray joined the Jaguars in 2017 after spending the first three seasons of his career with the Broncos and Bills. The former undrafted free agent has played 35 games with the Jaguars over the past three seasons, racking up 2.5 sacks and 26 total tackles along the way. He'll likely continue to serve as nothing more than a depth piece that plays a handful of snaps per week.
The Jaguars placed McCray (hamstring) on injured reserve Monday, John Oehser of the Jaguars' official site reports.
McCray sustained a season-ending hamstring injury during Sunday's 33-13 loss to the Colts. The 29-year-old special-teams ace will work to return to full health in time for the start of the 2020 season.
McCray was forced out of Sunday's game against the Colts with a hamstring injury.
It's usually tough to come back from a hamstring injury, so it won't be surprising if McCray doesn't return to action Sunday. The 29-year-old mainly works on special teams anyway, so his absence won't shake up the team's defensive dynamic.
