No matter here, as the reserve/future title means nothing. To take to a different level, Pierce has minimal talent and likely will struggle to ever make it to the Broncos 53-man roster.

Pierce was not expected to be a contributor for the Jets this year with Matt Forte being the starter. After injuring his hamstring in camp this year the Jets did not have much incentive to keep him around, add that injury to the fact that he is suspended for the first two games of 2016 and that was enough to let him go.

This move officially ends his 2016 season before it ever got going. Pierce was an offseason signing by the Jets to bolster the depth of the backfield after losing Chris Ivory and really only having Bilal Powell, prior to adding Matt Forte. He had been dealing with a hamstring issue all camp but it's clear it won't heal anytime soon. Pierce is facing a two-game suspension to start the season for whoever is possibly interested in signing him still.

He will be allowed to participate in training camp and the preseason. New York has an abundance of running back talent with Matt Forte leading the way followed by Bilal Powell, and Khiry Robinson.
