Player News
The Vikings released Benwikere on Tuesday, James Palmer of NFL Network reports.
Benwikere landed in Minnesota earlier in August and was ultimately unable to secure a spot on the roster. The journeyman cornerback will look to latch on elsewhere in the league.
Benwikere signed with the Vikings on Saturday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Benwikere is a journeyman's journeyman, as the Vikings mark his sixth team in as many seasons. Due to a variety of injury and suspension issues, the 27-year-old has a legit shot to earn a spot on the team's final 53-man roster, but still has some work cut out ahead of him.
Dolphins have released CB Bene' Benwikere.
Benwikere was claimed off waivers by the Dolphins just a few weeks ago as a depth grab for the coverage-needing Dolphins. He played in four games for them and recored 10 total tackles with a pick and four passes defensed. However the coaching staff wants to move in another direction. He is now set to join his third team of the 2016 campaign, if he is brought on board elsewhere.
Bene Benwikere was claimed off waivers by the Dolphins.
Xavien Howard went down with an injury just a week ago, so Benwikere is a logical replacement considering he was a starter just cut by the Panthers. Dolphins fans should be wary however, as Benwikere is the same player who allowed 300 yards receiving to Julio Jones just two weeks ago.
