Denver selected Jalen Pickett with pick No. 32 of the 2023 NBA Draft on Thursday.
A high-scoring guard who began his college career at Siena, Pickett averaged nearly 18 points per game and helped lead Penn State to the NCAA tournament this past season. His efficiency as a scorer improved considerably in 2022-23, with the fifth-year senior shooting 50.8% from the field, and he also improved as a distributor (6.6 assists/game, 2.3 turnovers/game). The combination of basketball IQ and physicality gives Pickett a shot at being a contributor at the NBA level. That's exactly the type of player that Denver is looking to add to their championship roster. It's unclear what type of role he'll have in year one, but he's the type of player that will be ready to contribute as soon as he's called upon.
