Robert Garcia
Player News
Robert Garcia took his seventh loss after giving up a Paul Goldschmidt solo homer in the seventh Wednesday against the Yankees.
Garcia has mostly been held back for the ninth in recent months, but he pitched the seventh in a tie game today in his first appearance since leaving Sunday’s game with back spasms. This makes three straight outings in which he’s given up a run, and Phil Maton has overtaken him as the Rangers’ reliever worth rostering right now.
Robert Garcia (back) is available for Monday’s series opener against the Yankees.
Garcia underwent an MRI over the weekend that didn’t reveal anything serious after exiting Saturday’s relief outing against the Mariners with back spasms. He’ll continue to handle the closing duties for Texas with recently added veteran Phil Maton probably in the mix as well.

Garcia clearly wasn’t at his best while blowing his second-straight save. The left-hander will all-but-assuredly undergo testing, but a trip to the injured list seems more likely than not.
