Clayton Beeter (shoulder) started a minor league rehab assignment on Sunday with Low-A Tampa.
Beeter has been on the shelf since spring training recovering from a shoulder injury. He struck out all four batters he faced on Sunday in his first appearance for Low-A Tampa. The 26-year-old figures to be ready to return to New York’s pitching mix at some point in mid-May after a couple weeks of rehab outings.
Yankees placed RHP Clayton Beeter on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to March 24, with a right shoulder impingement.
Beeter was likely to open the regular season in New York’s bullpen as a long reliever, but that’s not happening. There isn’t a clear timetable for his return at the moment..
Clayton Beeter (shoulder) won’t be ready for the start of the 2025 season.
Beeter has been out of action with a shoulder injury. The 26-year-old is expected to work as a multi-inning reliever, but he won’t be able to help the Yankees until the middle of April at the earliest.
Clayton Beeter, who has already been set back by a shoulder issue this spring, will focus on relief work going forward.
Given that Beeter is 26 now and still hasn’t gotten any less wild, this makes sense. He has ample potential in relief, but he’ll be a long shot to make the Yankees out of spring training. Fortunately, he still has two option years remaining.
