2025 Player Outlook

A forearm strain in early June didn't slow down Erceg in 2024, and in fact, after getting dealt to Kansas City, he got even better. Across 23 appearances for the Royals, Erceg recorded 11 saves while posting a 2.88 ERA, and 0.84 WHIP. His big-time velocity plays up his slider, and if he needs a ground ball, he has a sinker that has registered a 55+ percent ground ball rate in each of the last two seasons. The Royals do have Hunter Harvey and Carlos Estevez in the mix, but Erceg should see his fair share of saves, and there's a good chance he leads Kansas City in save opportunities in 2025.

X-rays came back negative on Lucas Erceg’s left foot.

Erceg was removed from Friday’s relief appearance against the Tigers after being struck in the left foot by a 109-mph line drive. It looked really bad initially as he went down immediately and struggled to put weight on it. However, X-rays came back negative, and he was even able to play catch on Saturday, which means there’s a strong possibility he’ll avoid a trip to the injured list. He’s officially day-to-day with a left foot contusion.
