Loáisiga is at least a couple weeks away from making it back to New York’s beleaguered relief corps after missing nearly all of last year recovering from flexor tendon surgery. The 30-year-old righty has plenty of high-leverage experience, so he’ll provide a lift for the Yankees once he’s back.

Loáisiga is a couple throwing sessions away from heading out on a minor league rehab assignment. The 30-year-old reliever should be ready to join New York’s relief mix at some point in late May or early June.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters Loáisiga could potentially make his season debut in late May or early June. The 30-year-old reliever opened the year on the shelf continuing to recover from last year’s flexor tendon surgery that caused him the entire 2024 campaign.
