Dodgers placed Erik Bedard on the voluntary retired list.
He's 36 years old and has a 5.02 ERA with a 7:1 K:BB in 14.1 innings for High-A Rancho Cucamonga. The back is balky still and it looks like we've finally hit the end. We wish him the best in his future endeavors.
Erik Bedard (back) will be reassigned to the minors.
Is seems as though Bedard's days of being a useful pitcher are just about over. He'll likely head to Triple-A and give the Dodgers and experienced arm if they ever need a spot start this season.
Erik Bedard expected to miss four to six weeks with a strained back muscle.
Erik Bedard will undergo an MRI Monday after suffering a lat strain on Sunday.
The Dodgers wouldn't say exactly what Bedard's injury was at first, but the fact that it's his lat isn't much of a surprise given the back issues he's had in the past. Consider him day-to-day for now, but he is likely going to need some extended time off depending on how the MRI reads.
