Kenley Jansen picked up a save with a scoreless ninth against the Pirates on Thursday.
Kenley Jensen held the Giants hitless to get a save Friday.
Kenley Jansen fired a scoreless ninth inning on Saturday against the Astros to record his fourth save of the season.
Jansen got the call to guard a three-run lead in the final frame and needed just 17 pitches (11 strikes) to end it. He got Christian Walker to pop up before giving up a single to Jeremy Peña, which made things interesting. He coaxed a harmless fly out from Yainer Diaz before freezing Jake Meyers on a called third strike to end it.
Kenley Jansen walked the tightrope in the ninth inning on Tuesday night, but somehow managed to escape with a one-run lead intact against the Rays to earn his third save of the season.
The 37-year-old hurler came on with a one-run lead to protect in the ninth and made things interesting by allowing a leadoff single to Jake Mangum. Mangum then swiped second base and advanced to third on a single by Taylor Walls, who also swiped second base. He then got Yandy Diaz to hit a ground ball to third, where Mangum was cut down at the plate. Jansen then rallied to strike out Brandon Lowe and Jose Caballero in succession to end the ballgame. In a world of uncertainty at the closer position, Jansen is as locked in as they come for the Angels right now. He has spun five scoreless innings to start the season with a 1.00 WHIP and a 6/2 K/BB ratio to go along with his three saves.
