Nationals signed OF Nomar Mazara to a minor league contract.
Mazara spent time with the Orioles during spring training before being released at the end of March after going 9-for-39 (.231) with no homers in 16 Grapefruit League games. He'll add minor league outfield depth for the Nationals.

Mazara will compete for a spot on the Orioles' Opening Day roster next spring after batting .264/.316/.352 with just two home runs over 171 plate appearances in 55 games last year with the Padres. The 27-year-old former top prospect has bounced around the last few seasons between the Padres, Tigers, White Sox and Rangers. There's always a chance that he puts it together given his prospect pedigree, but he's getting close to running out of opportunities.

The 27-year-old former top prospect hit just .264/.316/.352 with two home runs and 18 RBI in 171 plate appearances over 55 games this season for San Diego. There's a chance he finds a new opportunity, but will likely have to settle for another minor league contract.
