JT Riddle has elected free agency.
Riddle was acquired from the Reds in a small trade back in May and didn't end up making an appearance for the Mets. The 31-year-old journeyman offers some defensive versatility and could wind up landing somewhere this offseason as organizational position player depth.
Reds traded INF JT Riddle to the Mets for cash.
Riddle was assigned to Triple-A after passing through waivers in April. He'll go to the Mets and serve as outfield depth. The 30-year-old outfielder was hitting just .208/.250/.365 with three homers across 104 plate appearances in Triple-A.

Riddle was designated for assignment on Tuesday and passed through waivers unclaimed. The versatile 30-year-old owns a rough .223/.261/.354 batting line in 797 career major league plate appearances.

Riddle was up for a handful of games with the Reds after Jonathan India and Mike Moustakas sustained injuries earlier this month. There's a strong possibility that he passes through waivers unclaimed and remains with the organization.
