Cody Bellinger is in center field and leading off on Saturday against the Rays.
Bellinger gets a look in the leadoff spot with righty Zack Littell toeing the rubber for Tampa Bay during Saturday afternoon’s matinee at Yankee Stadium. It appears to be a straight swap to keep everyone else in the same lineup spot with a red-hot Trent Grisham getting a routine day off.
Cody Bellinger had a solo homer, a two-run double and two walks Tuesday against the Orioles.
Bellinger’s homer off Kyle Gibson was his third of the year. His exit velocity numbers have been better than his lack of production indicates, but he’s also been striking out more than usual this season, and it would be nice to see him have a big game in one in which the Yankees aren’t on their way to scoring 15 runs.
Cody Bellinger is hitting fifth against the Blue Jays on Friday.
Bellinger is moving down in the lineup after a poor first month that has seen him hit just .177 with a .527 OPS over 79 games. Trent Grisham is leading off with Ben Rice hitting third, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if this was the way the Yankees lined up until Bellinger gets right. Jasson Dominguez is out of the lineup for Friday’s contest.
Cody Bellinger went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, two RBI and a stolen base against the Rays on Sunday.
