Have you ever heard that story about the baby bull sitting atop a hill with his father overlooking the valley strewn with cows? The son looks up to his father and says, “Hey dad! How ‘bout we run down that hill and grab one of them cows and have our way with her?” And the father looks down at his son and responds, “How about we just quietly walk down that hill and have our way with them all?” It’s a story about patience and maturity and it’s a story about thinking before you act. It popped into my mind here this early, early Sunday morning when I turned on my laptop to see a series of emails from both Giants fans and Tim Lincecum owners deriding me for my blasphemous statements regarding the one they belovedly refer to as The Freak.
Welcome to the very special Hurricane Irene Edition of the Tuesday Top Ten. It is another Friday in the world of fantasy baseball, and the biggest news on the landscape is the return of my least favorite player in the game. Even though I have to deal with that realization, there is also a potpourri of other injury and suspension news, good and bad. Guys were leaving games left and right, the disabled list got a few players heavier on Friday, and there is very little good news to report. The hottest hitter in baseball continues to rake, and the pitcher with the longest losing streak looks to be turning it around. Finally there is news of a young player making his mark, and the worst ninth inning situation might be improving. Don't forget about the pitching streamer of the day and the rest in Rounding The Bases.
We are (unfortunately) back from the FSTA Summer Tech Conference in San Francisco, California and it is time to get back to the daily work. Fantasy baseball didn't stop while we were away, and there is plenty of news to get to. Another one of baseball's top young players will find his way to the big leagues this weekend, so you better check that out. A hot young pitcher is going to miss a start, and one of the hottest waiver wire pickups this year is also injured. The game's greatest player gets extra eligibility today, and of course we have random observations from tonight's games. Don't miss the pitching streamer to finish it off in tonight's Rounding The Bases.
The first weekend of the regular season is upon us and players are still just getting their feet wet. We have a bunch of pitchers with high expectations getting off to slow starts, and a few under the radar guys who looked like world beaters. There is some injury news tonight about one of the top pitchers, the top closers, and one of the top young hitters in baseball.
