Every time we look up it seems like another player is hurt. Some of the players you could care less about, I didn't see anyone shed a tear when the Cubs announced that Ian Stewart's quad injury would cause him to miss Opening Day, but when the Dodgers started to tell us what the deal was with Zack Greinke's elbow, the Twitterverse went into a tizzy (Greinke might only misss one start from the sound of things). And that got me to thinking. I haven't written an article this year that deals directly with injured players and how we should treat those players in the fantasy game. Every player is different, some injuries are minor others major, but if we have a defined time-line for a return from injury, let's say 4-6 weeks as is the case with Chase Headley who we will discuss, what does that do to the value of the player in the fantasy game? If you've ever wondered how to think about injured players when trying to put together your fantasy squad, then this is the article for you.
The season is not even two weeks old and already injuries are wreaking havoc on fantasy baseball teams everywhere. Sorry for such a brief introduction, but I sprained by left middle knuckle typing that last sentence. The doctors say I am day to day, but chances are I will need to book an appointment with Dr. James Andrews. So without further adieu, here is the next edition of the walking wounded.
Happy Hump Day to all of you fantasy baseball players as we creep ever closer to the Midsummer's Classic. As if the Yankees haven't been good enough, we will give you good news on two of their starting pitchers. We have a couple of rookies who are totally living up to expectations, as well as a starting pitcher who lived up to my expectations by going on the Disabled LIst. Of course don't miss out on my pitch streamer pick for Friday and check out the results of the past couple of days. It is still not too late to use the Fantasy Alarm service to maintain your rosters on a daily basis as we will send player news right to your email inbox or to your cell phone via text message. Check out the home page to lear more, but for now enjoy Rounding The Bases.
It is another weekend in fantasy baseball, and as always there is plenty of action going on from coast to coast. As far as big fantasy news, there is another pretty serious prospect coming to the majors, but other than that it is a bit of a light night. We have news of a big name starting pitcher that has hit the disabled list, a lower name that has already thrown his second shutout of the season, and two more that are on a nice roll. We have a catcher that you shouldn't fall in love with, while we talk about an outfielder that you should. It is time for the weekend, so crack a cold one and enjoy Rounding The Bases.
