Rounding the Bases: The Forgotten
For two straight years, Dee Gordon, son of former All Star reliever Tom Gordon, was listed among Baseball America’s top 50 prospects thanks to a slick glove in the field and blinding speed on the base paths. He got his first taste of the big leagues back in 2011 and over a 56 game span that saw him come to the plate 233 times, Gordon hit .304 with 34 runs scored and 24 stolen bases. But in 2012, when he was given the starting shortstop gig to open the season, Gordon struggled mightily at the plate. Yes, he swiped 32 bases over 87 games, but he also hit just .228 and had a woeful .280 on-base percentage. He was shipped back down to Triple-A and his overall fantasy value took a hit. And when the Dodgers traded for Hanley Ramirez and announced that he would play shortstop in 2013, Gordon became even more of a forgotten man as there was, obviously, no room for him on the big league roster. Well guess what? He’s baaaaaaaaack!
Rounding the Bases: Howard Returns, Arroyo Deals, and Colvin & Rizzo Power Up
In the wake of hearing about rehab setbacks for both Evan Longoria and Carl Crawford, the baseball world got a little bit of good news as the Phillies finally activated first base slugger Ryan Howard on Friday and got him into the lineup immediately. The slugger had been on the shelf since the final at-bat of the Phillies final game of 2011 when he ruptured his Achilles tendon. The road to recovery was cumbersome, but he’s back now and fantasy owners that had him stashed are looking to reap the benefits as we get ready to head on into the second half of the season.
Rounding the Bases: Expectations for 2012
We love stars. We fall all over our self to see them perform, trample little kids to get their autographs, and hang their pictures on our walls (come on, you remember your Elle Macpherson Sports Illustrated pictures that adorned your walls). Today I'll give my thoughts on a handful of fellas who have names that might outpace their actual production in 2012.
August 23rd: Top Ten Fantasy Baseball Headlines
Welcome to the very special Earthquake Edition of the Tuesday Top Ten. If you didn’t hear the news, most of the east coast and regions out to Ohio experienced a 5.9 earthquake this afternoon at 1:51 PM. Clearly the reason for this is the fact that the Oakland A’s are in New York tonight to play the Yankees. Apparently they brought the San Andreas Fault with them on their charter plane. As a forewarning, there are absolutely no earthquake jokes or puns contained in this edition of the Top Ten. I thought it would be in poor taste to mock or defame the memory of John Tenta, otherwise known as Earthquake in the WWF. Remember when he squashed Jake Roberts’ snake and then made python burgers out of its remains? Now, without further adieu, here is this week’s edition of the Tuesday Top Ten fantasy baseball headlines for August 23, 2011.

Welcome back to another edition of the Tuesday Top Ten list of relevant and newsworthy fantasy baseball stories. After making a triumphant return last week, your appetite has been whetted again to the point where you need your weekly dose. Now, without further adieu, here is the Tuesday Top Ten fantasy baseball headlines for August 2, 2011.

It is the end of another week in fantasy baseball and as usual there is a ton of news. As always there is injury news with a Panda and a Tabata and one doesn't seem too bad while the other is crushing. I give you a guy I think should be in the All-Star game that isn't getting any attention and a National League pitcher that got off to a great start that is starting to collapse. It was a day of unprobably stolen bases as some of the fattest asses in the majors got in the SB column, and a former first round pick is starting to finally make a bit of noise in fantasy. If you can't wait to find out what the hell I am talking about, wait no more and enjoy Rounding The Bases.
