Hanley Ramirez will be switching coasts as he has been dealt to the Dodgers. What type of player is the club from L.A. getting? Wandy Rodriguez escaped Houston and now has a chance at making the playoffs... with the Pirates (who knew?). Cole Hamels realized that the grass isn't always greener on the other side as he signed a massive deal to remain in Philadelphia. Ryan Desmpter's trade status is still in major limbo with the Braves looking like they might be out of the mix. Finally, some news on what is going on with the guys on the diamond including a slugger being released, another saying his rehab is going well, and a speedster whose value on the way up after one of the greatest hitters in baseball history broke his hand.
Prince Fielder trusted his agent and waited, and waited, and waited. It paid off as the Tigers signed him to the 4th largest deal in the history of baseball. Will he continue to have success in Detroit? At this time of year everyone talks about projections. I'll give my thoughts on why I think number projections are a shell game that no one really has the answer to. I'll also touch on two relatively minor signings – Bartolo Colon to the A's and Wilson Betemit to the Orioles – and tell you which one has the potential to be a more significant move for the 2012 season.
We have reached the last full week of the fantasy baseball season, and at this point all that is left to cover is a few injuries that are still lingering, as well as recognizing the great or pathetic seasons that players have had. Tonight we have made it official who the greatest closer in the history of baseball truly is, some disappointing players who are out of lineups whether temporarily or for the rest of the season, and I name the American League Most Valuable Player. Lastly I give you a few players that have caught my attention this season and how I see their value in drafts at the start of 2012. It is never too late to start thinking about next year's drafts!!!!!
It is another weekend in fantasy baseball and again we have a bunch of injury news. We have a highly touted pitcher who struggled out of the gate is getting closer to returning, while two high round picks are both out of their team's lineup. And of course we have plenty of news and notes from today's games including two high strikeout/high ERA pitchers squaring off, a struggling second baseman trying to break out, a couple of pitchers trying to turn their season around and a couple of guys under the radar who are getting the job done.
Welcome to the third installment of the Tuesday Top Ten where I will be presenting you with ten of the most newsworthy events in all of baseball, both real and fantasy. Each item will have some general information and then a short analysis of the potential fantasy impact. As you already know, the ranking of the list is completely subjective based on my own arbitrary criteria. So without further adieu, let's get a drumroll from Paul Shaffer and roll out the Tuesday Top Ten list for May 17, 2011.
Welcome to the start of Week 5 of the fantasy baseball season, and I can't believe we are this deep into the season already. We have the news on two returns from injury of some of the games best young players, one hitter and one pitcher. One will be right away, while the other will be in time for the weekend. Other than that we have news of a young slugger starting to go on a tear, a young catcher giving us a daily double, and a young pitcher who is starting to turn the corner. I tell you which two old Yankees are bound to fall apart, and which player with diarrhea ruined his fantasy owners weekends. If that isn't enough for you, I don't know what is so enjoy today's version of Rounding The Bases.
Week three of fantasy matchups are officially in the books and as usual there is plenty to talk about in the world of fantasy baseball. There are signs of life from the Captain in the Bronx, and a former MVP has a great weekend coming back from injury. We let you know what is going on in the Texas bullpen and which young slugger is on the verge of a hot streak.
