Albert Pujols is a superstar by any definition of the word. He produces time and time again on the field. He does nothing off the field to bring shame to himself of his team. He's someone the kiddies should try to emulate. However, does that mean that he's still a good enough hitter that he should be a top-10 lock in 2013? Maybe – maybe not. The Marlins have faced, and will continue to face, innumerable questions about how they continue to run their franchise into the ground. On the field they have some questions about the 9th inning as well as what the health situation is with Logan Morrison. We'll investigate. We'll also touch on a right-handed pitcher who seems intent on coming out of retirement as well as trying to discern just what in the heck the D'backs are doing with their best player, Justin Upton.
A wonderful holiday weekend to you all and another week of the fantasy baseball season is in the books and we are now just one week away from the unofficial mid-point of the season. The All-Star rosters were announced today, and I am interested in hearing your thoughts on the subject at email@example.com. A few quick ones of mine....Brandon League? Really? How is Andrew McCutchen not on the National League squad and for that matter, how is C.C. Sabathia not a pitcher for the American League? Can you tell me how they picked the NL's Last Man In Vote? Was it random? Names out of a hat? Dart board? Todd Helton? Are we all high? Enough of my ramblings, but feel free to shoot me an email, but until then enjoy tonight's news in Rounding The Bases.
We are (unfortunately) back from the FSTA Summer Tech Conference in San Francisco, California and it is time to get back to the daily work. Fantasy baseball didn't stop while we were away, and there is plenty of news to get to. Another one of baseball's top young players will find his way to the big leagues this weekend, so you better check that out. A hot young pitcher is going to miss a start, and one of the hottest waiver wire pickups this year is also injured. The game's greatest player gets extra eligibility today, and of course we have random observations from tonight's games. Don't miss the pitching streamer to finish it off in tonight's Rounding The Bases.
There is a LOAD of bad injury news this season, including two guys that you really didn't want to see in the same sentence as the word injury. One Yankee star continues to lead the league in long balls, while perhaps their best hitter took one in the dome today. There is a potential closer who is having trouble between the ears, and a catcher who is having trouble between the legs. We have a Twins closer blowing a game, while a hitter trying to keep them in it. Lastly there is a hot prospect who goes yard, while a returning speedster is stealing bags like it is his job. All of that and don't forget to sign up for the Fantasy Alarm service to be sure that you never have to start a benched player again.
A lot of tonight's article revolves around veterans that are off to good starts that I question whether we believe in them or not. Some I decide that I do, while others I severely doubt. There is some news on multiple young pitchers and the exciting starts that they are off too, But we begin with closer news, one that has already lost his job, and another that damn well better before too long. Finally we talk about one of Fantasy Alarm's favorite sleepers and what he has been doing lately. Week three of the fantasy baseball season starts tomorrow and for the most part you still should be patient with the guys that you have but check out the news of the night from Rounding The Bases.
