One of the best illustrations of how history repeats itself is found in the closer situation for fantasy baseball owners. Every year we see the same thing over and over again. You’ve got your select few who have fantastic job security and the talent to back it up and then you’ve got the rest – a disgusting revolving door of blown saves and ratios that make you cringe and wonder how it could ever be that bad. Well, we’ve got one more joining the party this week as the Tigers have finally caved in and gone back to the well from which they drank last season. Yep, that’s right….it’s the return of Papa Grande.
It's been two weeks, but everyone loves to panic. It's in our nature. Something goes wrong, and we immediately start looking for a quick fix (think of all the weight loss pills out there when the best course of action would just be to eat well and exercise). Fantasy baseball is no different and the start to the season has led to a whole lot of consternation over names like Tim Lincecum, Francisco Liriano, Johan Santana and Mark Melancon. I'll address all of those arms. I'll then wrap the piece up by focusing on something near and dear to me – numbers. What numbers have stood out to me in the early going? Read on to find out.
We are just two days away from the Fourth of July and we all know what that means....the Coney Island Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Competition. This year we have a new twist that clearly shows that we have found sexual equality as there will be a woman's only pig out. Now we know that America has clearly come around to be sure that everyone is treated equally. I do have to say that I have to question the young lady who is willing to drop 40 wieners into her body in under ten minutes. That being said there is plenty of fantasy baseball to talk about too, and you will find it here in Rounding The Bases.
It is the start of the fourth month of the fantasy baseball schedule and of course there is plenty to talk about on a Friday night. One of the leagues closers has been put on the shelf, while a fill in is showing his worth. A Cardinal is really hitting well, while we have a strange occurrence in Chicago. A newly acquired player in Colorado belts out his first for the team, and we also have pitching news from all over the map. So, enjoy whatever it is you are doing tonight and soak in all that is Rounding The Bases.
