Hello everybody, remember me?  That’s right, Hallam is back!  I might have taken a few months off, but I was never really out of the fantasy game.  I don’t really want to dwell too long on things because none of you really care about the how and the why, all you really care about is fantasy baseball information which I am more than happy to pass out.  We are about six weeks into the season, and we can separate the contenders from the pretenders by who can identify who is merely off to a fast start and who is going to help your team all of 2012.  It is time to identify players that, if they are on your team, you need to try to capitalize right away and trade them for all they are worth.  Those who hold on too long to one month wonders are those who start the season in first place, often end the season in fifth.  We here at Fantasy Alarm help to make you someone who finishes in September at the top of the heap.

It's early in the 2012 fantasy baseball season, and that means you should exercise patience with proven performers and show only guarded optimism with formerly middling options who are off to blazing starts. Today, I'll discuss a handful of the starting pitchers who are in the news and give my thoughts if you should be buying, or selling, base on their starts in 2012.

Rounding the Bases: With So Much Great Pitching, Who Needs an Ace?

Just a quickie again today, folks.  Time constraints have a hold on me again today, so as much as I would love to ooh and aah about some killer young starting pitching, I’m going to have to keep it brief.  One thing that I will reiterate to all you fantasy hounds out there is that if there’s one thing you can take away from yesterday and this first month of baseball, it’s that pitching will always be the deepest position out there, and if you do your due diligence prior to your draft, you can build yourself a spectacular pitching staff without having to invest in one of these top flight aces that will cost you an arm and a leg in bid dollars or a pick as high as the second or third round.  We all know that offense wins fantasy championships, so if you load up on the big hitters first and then draft some of the better pitchers from the third or fourth tier or even lower, you can still come out ahead and win your league.

Rounding the Bases: Floundering Freak, Peavy Performs and Schierholtz Takes New York

Fantasy owners that used their second or third round pick to select Giants ace Tim Lincecum, affectionately referred to as The Freak, have been banging their heads against the wall since he made his first start on Opening Day.  He coughed up five earned runs that day, not even making it out of the sixth inning, and hardly looking like the player worthy of such a high draft selection.  From there, he went on to give up another 11 earned runs in 8.1 innings over his next two starts, pushing his ERA to a very uncharacteristic 10.54 with an equally atrocious 1.90 WHIP and suddenly there was panic in the air.  Was he hurt?  Was he having a mechanical issue?  Was he done?

It is the final day of another week in fantasy baseball and it is getting to the point that it is just a move or two that could be the difference between first place and third of fourth, so your roster moves now are more crucial than ever. And chances are two-thirds of your league isn't paying attention anymore so there aren't as many people competing for the waiver wire moves any more.  Tonight we talk about some disappointing producers, what to expect from them next season, and how they might finish the season.  There are also three or four more guys in here tonight that can help you make that move from third place to first place by ascending you to the top of any category.  There isn't much time left in the season, so you really can't miss Rounding The Bases.

A wonderful holiday weekend to you all and another week of the fantasy baseball season is in the books and we are now just one week away from the unofficial mid-point of the season. The All-Star rosters were announced today, and I am interested in hearing your thoughts on the subject at ryan@fantasyalarm.com. A few quick ones of mine....Brandon League?  Really? How is Andrew McCutchen not on the National League squad and for that matter, how is C.C. Sabathia not a pitcher for the American League?  Can you tell me how they picked the NL's Last Man In Vote?  Was it random?  Names out of a hat?  Dart board?  Todd Helton?  Are we all high? Enough of my ramblings, but feel free to shoot me an email, but until then enjoy tonight's news in Rounding The Bases.

Happy Hump Day fantasy players!  It is a very busy night on the diamond tonight as well as on the road back from injury from a former MVP. Elite closers are blowing up left and right, while some guys who aren't household names are getting the job done. An often injured starter goes the distance tonight, while a also ran for fantasy looked like a star. One of the futures of the Braves rotation struggled to find his way, while a Red Sox stud looks studly. There is so much more going on in this article tonight that I will just let you get to it and take in all of the news that you need to help you in your quest for league domination.

Welcome to the third installment of the Tuesday Top Ten where I will be presenting you with ten of the most newsworthy events in all of baseball, both real and fantasy.  Each item will have some general information and then a short analysis of the potential fantasy impact.  As you already know, the ranking of the list is completely subjective based on my own arbitrary criteria.  So without further adieu, let's get a drumroll from Paul Shaffer and roll out the Tuesday Top Ten list for May 17, 2011.

Not a ton of news from around the world of fantasy baseball, but what we have is pretty significant.  We have another change at closer, this time for a fairly prominent National League team, as well as one of fantasy's finest catchers who is going to sit for a couple of weeks. There is also news about an already injured pitcher who has a setback, and a budding slugger who is going to miss a few days with a family matter. It is another installment of Rounding The Bases, your daily look at all of the most relevant fantasy news.
